The rubber seal at the leading edge of the convertible top where it sits on the windshield has multible cracks. Can this seal be easily replaced and if not does it cause leaks at the site. The car is a 2005 z4 with a power top.

The car is too new to have rust issues along the top edge of your roof so it must be a problem with the seal around the windshield. Look at the top of the windshield and see if you can see any kind of damage to the black rubber seal along the top of the wind shield. There may have been a rock or something hit it allows water to enter along the top edge of the windshield. If this is the case the roof lining will must likely also be damp.
Hope this helps.
you may have to go to a different place and have them remove the glass or look at it to make sure it was seal good and the glass was sitting in there right give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.
Most antenna will be mounted on the front windscreen frame toward the top as to boost reception. It can be mounted on the side to camouflage it against the trim. Be sure to leave about 1/2 inch from the edge of the glass as to not crack it. And use a rubber gasket to seal the hole where the wire enters the body to prevent leaks. Threading the wire leads can be done using a thin coat hanger, opened to it's length, as a long threader. It will allow you to pull the wire down to the phone base.
Well, you are on the right path; the rubber seal around the windshield could indeed be deteriorating...what may be happening is the water is coming through the cowling and pooling up on the seal there...as the water sits, the seal deteriorates and eventually you will see water like you are now.
My recommendation to you is to take your Edge to a shop and ask them to look for a leak at the bottom seal of the windshield.
Yes and No, depending if the car has been sitting out in the sun longer than others. over times seal tend to wear or rotten especially the one setting out more in the sun. back window tend to get beaten more its the way the window sit exposing more to the sun, beside the front windshieldwhich has stronger and thicker rubber. Manufacture who produce those rubber seals for GM, I never though they were good seal. GM always has problems with there rubber seals when it come to convertible and T- tops. back in the the early 80's to the late 90's was horrible. 2000' are much improvement.
