1992 Toyota Celica Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jul 08, 2011

I have a 1992 Toyota Celica convertible. Its an import from Japan (JDM) model. It is the Limited 300. The car is the ST183 version. My problem is the power windows and central locking have failed, i assume its a fuse. However i have checked all the fuses in the fuse box under the bonnet and in the drivers footwell and cannot find any blown fuses. Can you please let me know the location of the fuse for the power windows and central locking??

    John,

Im not convinced you have the correct model celica.

Its a Right hand drive Japanese import. I dont think there are any fuses in the left kick panel at all!

The UK manual shows the 30A power fuse in the RH kick panel however the JDM manual does not show any fuse similar and states contact Toyota for power windows, central locking and steering tilt (all of which went at the same time on my car leading me to believe there must be a fuse somewhere).

    John,

There are no fuses in the LH footwell, the car is RHD JDM ST183

Can you please let me know exactly where the fuse is located possibly a diagram. I have all the kick pannels off both sides and cant find the 30 amp fuse?

I am having a nightmare with this at the moment. The car kickpanels are stripped off. The UK version has a 30 Amp fuse in the footwell, it seems the JDM doesnt. Not that i can find!

The JDM user manual states Contact TOYOTA for issues with window or door lock so i am starting to think this model may not have a fuse and just a relay. I just cant imagine Toyota not fitting a fuse for the windows!

The wiring diagram would be very useful, however i really need to physically identify the fuse location and i can take it from there.

    Regards

    Barry

hi there, i have sent you a photo, the fuse box in the car does not relate to the diagram. The diagram is for a UK spec car i have an ST183 Japanese spec car which has different wiring and the fuse is somewhere else.

There is a 30 amp power fuse in the left kick panel that provides power to the windows and power door locks, there is also a main power relay that is also in the left kick panel, these two idems are the power control source for both systems. there is also a 15 amp gauge fuse in the left kick panel fuse box this is the control circuit for te power windows and locks.

remove the master power window switch and test the white/green wire ( not the green/white ) there should be 12 volt power to this wire with the key on, if not check the 30 amp fuse, if there is power on both ends of the fuse then test the white/blue wire for power at the power relay in the leftkick panel, if there is power to the white/blue wire then replace the relay test the blue/yellow or red/blue wire at the power relay if there is power at this wire then the wiring from the fuse box to the relay is ok and the 15 amp gauge fues is ok.if there is no power at this wire check the gauge fues if there is power at this wire replace the relay....good luck

let me know if there is any thing else you need.

it should not make any differance wither it is a right hand drive or not the left kick panel is from the drivers side seat so in the us it would be the driverside panel on a right hand drive it would be the passanger side send me your e-mail and i will send you the wiring diagram.

  • Anonymous Jul 09, 2011

let me do a little looking and see if i can find a picture of the fuse location, stuff will be on the way in a little wile.

  • Anonymous Jul 09, 2011

How do I add fluid for an convertible top toyota celica 1992

There used to be a long- running joke among auto forums and clubs about advising someone to check one's "blinker fluid", if having trouble with their turn signals not working... So you can see the quandary you have put me in: what kind of fluid exactly are we talking about here? . I am so-so familiar with celicas, owned a pretty decent riding '89 (or '87, maybe) model for a short while, ran smooth as ice down the interstate at 80 mph on the initial ride home, but it was def. a beater- had seen better days by the time I bought it for less than $400...yes, better days...8 months later it went to a shadowy grave, due to clipping a wild animal at night. I have no regrets.
If it is conventional fluid to any under hood part, it makes no difference between a convertible and a coupe. The celica generation that included your 1992 model, was the one most enthusiasts favored, on a celica forum I once joined. They sure made fun of Honda owners- calling the accord a grocery-getter...

83 tercel canadian version vacum hose diagram

wow that is a hard one... did you open the hood and look up yet>?
on all USA and some Canada spec (market) cars the emission sticker
under hood (must look up and under) is the VACUUM map
if really a Canadian version?, most are not. back then, that SAME
sticker proves that.

it will say like USA Federal emission standards
if you see and oak leaf it is CAN , standards.
in Canada they had 4 versions back then, not only 1, starting in 1998

1: USA california. (its like the PR. of Calif, like a country )
2: USA FEderal (FED US EPA SPEC,) aka; 49 state
3: Canada
4: Gray market, back they you guys could import any of the 56 market cars then. even JDM cars direct from JAPAN. cars made only for japan actual. Japan domestic market.
end history. there is more.....

sure i have vast insite to this. but do you have this sticker,
ill post a suz, tag. 89 (hood)

this is the only way to get vacuum info.
knowing what you have, what car, what market.
the FSM is sold by market and has the exact information.

Toyota uses a very simular tag system. (laws)
