92 Accord Buzzing Sound below Glove Box

There is a buzzing sound which appears to be below the glove box when I have the FRESH AIR or RECIRCULATION buttons turned on. If neither are turned on then the buzzing noise stops. Just wondering if this could be a faulty relay or something and where exactly it might be located?

It only happens if i have one of those buttons pressed though. I can still have the blower motor running without those engadged and the humming doesn't happen.

Well that's where your ac blower motor is. you may have something wedged in it smacking the blades on the wheel or the bearings in the blower motor could be going out but that would making more of a hum or a grinding noise.

well with that bit of information i can tell you that your air door is most likely hitting the blower when in that position

I have a 2011 Mitsubishi gallant, it started making a vibrating/buzzing noise from under the glove box. The ac doesn't affect it at all and it makes the noise from the time you start the car until turning...

This sounds like a recirculating air door actuator with stripped gears, listen for a change in sound when you move from recirc to outside air, when on recirc the noise inside the vehicle will be greater than when on outside air. Remove the glove box to look at it I hope this helps. Take care.

Knocking noise from glove compartment upon starting

What kind of car? It is very common for air recirculation doors to break and cause a ratcheting sound like that when you first start

I cant find the blower motor

If you mean the climate control blower motor, it's usually under the dash on the passenger side on Hondas.

1990-93 Accord
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. If so equipped, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
  2. Remove the glove box.
  3. Remove the glove box frame (lower support) Fig. 2: Remove the glove box and frame 86806004.gif

  4. If not equipped with air conditioning:
    1. Remove the three screws and remove the heater duct.
    2. Remove the blower mounting nuts. Unplug the wiring from the blower motor, resistor and recirculation control motor, then remove the blower assembly.
  5. If equipped with air conditioning:
    1. Lift the carpet in the passenger compartment. Remove the side cover (kick panel).
    2. Remove the control unit bracket nuts; unplug the five connectors and remove the control unit bracket.
    3. Remove the retaining band, then remove the blower lower covers. Do not break the tabs on the lower covers.
    4. Remove the retaining nuts and remove the blower assembly. Fig. 3: Air conditioned models require the removal of the control unit. Handle it carefully 86806005.gif
Fig. 4: Remove the lower covers from the blower unit 86806006.gif
      To install:
  6. Install the blower unit and tighten the retaining nuts.
  7. On air conditioned vehicles:
    1. Install the lower covers and the retaining band.
    2. Install the control unit bracket and carefully engage the wiring connectors to their proper location.
    3. Install the kick panel and reposition the carpet.
  8. Connect the wiring to the blower assembly. For non-air conditioned vehicles, install the air duct and tighten the screws.
  9. Install the glove box frame and install the glove box. Note that some of trim on the frame is held with 2-sided tape; replace the tape when reassembling as necessary.
  10. If applicable, enable the SRS.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
1988-91 Prelude
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the glove box and frame (lower support).
  3. Remove the 4 screws and remove the heater duct. Fig. 5: The glove box and frame are secured by several small screws 86806007.gif

  4. Remove the 3 mounting bolts.
  5. Unplug the wiring connectors from the blower motor, resistor and recirculation controller. Remove the blower motor assembly.
  6. Reinstall in reverse order. Make certain the blower mating surfaces are tightly sealed.

How do I change the cabin filter on my 2002 Honda Accord SE?

There are two filters.
You have the remove the glove box. Three screws on the bottom edge. Remove them, then open the glove box door. Three plastic covers along the top edge, remove with something that won't cut them up. Remove screws under them (two screws under the center one). Then, push the glove box hinges toward each other to disengage the clips in the dashboard. Then pull the glove box assembly down and out (when the box is part way out, disconnect the glove box light connector before you take it the rest of the way).
Once the glove box is out, remove the three screws (two on the right, one on the left) of the glove box reinforcement panel, then remove the panel (the bar looking thing next down from where you took the three screws out of the bottom of the glove box).
Release the snap at the bottom and remove the air conditioning filter lid.
Slide the upper and lower filter assemblies out of the evaporator housing.
Remove the old filters from the filter carriers, clean the carriers and inset the new filters.
Reverse procedure to install.
I know that this sound involved, but just take your time, and you can do it.
Hope this helps you.

Lexus RX300 buzzing behind/under glove box

Sure the culprit is in the HVAC system. The cover under the glove box needes to be removed to look and see theres a relay panel and motors that move the air doors inside the duct work the motors are on the out side and can be diffacult to change so even if your going to hire the work done it might be nice to look first so you'll know if your talking to a person that should do this work for you Quizzing the professional sales person at your local auto parts store you'll find the person that they know that buys the parts that fix these things if he buys lots of this kind of part that shop is likly to have a person that can go right to it and fix it cheap and quicker than someone puzzeling over the repair manuel and trying difference things with your money

Vent Control Noise Behind Glove Box

The noise is coming from the blend door motors.
All of the climate control doors (vents, defroster, temperature, recirculation etc) are controlled by electronic motors. As the motors age they tend to make a buzzing noise when they move.

There is a software upgrade that is available to minimize the noise, but it will always make the noise to some degree.

Hope this helps.

How do i pull out a faulty heater blower motor from behind glovebox in 91 accord?

For Pictured Detailed Innstruction see Bottom of Page

BLOWER UNIT REMOVAL
  1. Remove the glove box.
2. Remove Glove box FRAME
3. Pull back the carpet and remove the kick panel. Remove the control unit bracket mounting nuts (4). Disconnect the connectors (5) and remove the control unit and bracket.

  1. Without A/C:
    • Remove the self-tapping screws (3) and remove the heater duct.
    • Remove the blower (3 nuts).
  • If the car has A/C, remove the blower unit according to the sequence shown
  • BLOWER MOTOR REPLACEMENT
Refer to illustration for blower unit disassembly and reassembly, noting the following:
    • Before reassembly, make sure that the air door and linkage moves smoothly without binding.
    • When reattaching the recirculation control motor, make sure its positioning will not allow the air door to be pulled too far. Attach the recirculation control motor and all linkage, then apply battery voltage and watch the recirculation control door movement. If necessary, loosen the holding screw and move the recirculation control motor up or down
    • CONTROL ROD ADJUSTMENT
Connect the recirculation control motor connector to the main wire harness and turn the FRE/REC switch to "REC". Hold the air door closed, then connect the control rod to the clip on the arm.
