Batteries can be bad right from the factory-rare, but it does happen. It needs to be load tested after a charge to see if it recovers. Then, have a test done on the alternator (free at most commercial auto parts stores)-that should rule out problems with battery, alternator, and connections. the only other thing is the ECU, for some reason, limiting the alternator output, but that should show up when the alternator is tested.

Hook a digitalmeter to the battery in your driveway while the car is running. It should read 13.5vdc. If it doesn't, something is pulling it down. We can start there. Looking forward to hearing from you again.

I did an oil change an tune up for 83 Buick lesabre with not enough oil. All connections hooked up except alternator. But it won't crank. What should I do? An it turns slow when try to crank

1ST make sure the oil level is up to spec. make sure all connections are connected & either charge the battery or boost the battery. If a boost doesn't do the trick, try leaving the booster cables hooked up with the other car running for a few minutes & try starting again. Try that battery charge next. If no luck, u may need a batt, Have a battery voltage test done / load test & starter draw test when fully charged. If u get it running have the alternator checked & ckd for shorts. Good Luck

93 buick lesabre with newer battery test shows charging system normal will not turn over in morning. Something drawing down battery overnight. When jumped will start and run fine during the day.

First, verify that none of your lights are remaining on, especially the TRUNK LIGHT and the GLOVE COMPARTMENT LIGHT.
Second, after you have driven the car for several miles, turn the car off and let it sit for one to two hours. Feel the back of the alternator. If it is hot, REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR, and your problem will stop (bad rectifier diode).

Voltage regulator

Sounds like a bad connection. The alternator only charges the battery, so if it or the voltage regulator in the alternator fails, the battery would slowly run down, not die all at once.

Can you put a alternator from a 2003 buick lesabre in 2000 buick lesabre

If the mounting set up is the same and the connections are the same the only difference likely will be the capacity of the alternators. ie one may be 60 amp(example) compared to the other 90 amp( example) It will have the rating on the body of the alternator and the lower amp will work harder to maintain a fully charged battery.

Voltage regulator 2003 buick lesabre

The voltage regulator is inside the alternator.
So if the alternator is good as you say, the regulator is too.
I suggested you check the wiring on the car.

2003 Buick Lesabre Battery is good and Altnator is good but is not charging the battery, I have no idea what it could be??

Chances are its the wire between the alternator and the battery, or the circuit that goes to the warning light on the dash. The warning light powers the volt regulator in the alternator which "turns on" the alternator.
The wire between the alternator and the battery is designed to burn and cut the connection much like a fuse.
You may have to get a shop manual or repair book to get the wiring diagram needed to troubleshoot the circuits.

94 buick 3.8 engine not charging Battery right

Its a fairly simple system. The alternator gets a signal from the circuit for the warning light and-or gauge to activate the voltage regulator inside the alternator. The large wire between the alternator and the battery or starter is fused for protection.
Could be a problem with that circuit back to the instrument cluster, or the circuit to the battery, or a ground connection. You could also have a second defective alternator.

I charged the battery on my 2002 buick and it started but the next morning it would not.

I would suggest you take it to an autoparts store and have them test both the battery and the alternator to find out which is giving you problems. If both are good then you have a short somewhere in your electrical system that drains your battery overnight. Which would take a clamp on ampmeter to localize.

My 2002 Lesabre gives a Check Charging Sytem alarm. Is it more likely the battery or the alternator.

If its signaling charging alarm, then its alternator. check battery ampere. if its more than 20 amperes its fine. go check it out with auto electrician.
