1998 dodge diesel 24v ,1693 engine code

Engine goes into idle mode after about 2 miles of operation when it is cold. If you attempt to accelerate it will die. Starts right up, but idle only. The throttle position sensor has been replaced. No change. The 1693 code indicates dtc"s in either the pcm or the ecm. Since I am having an engine running problem, I assume the code is in the ecm. Is the code telling me I need to replace the ecm?

It is suggested that you always start with first code first. not knowing what code came first, and my experience with Dodge. i have found that them symptoms resemble a map,sensor/check vacuum hose and vacuum.

1997 F-350 Ford Powerstroke4x4 Crew Cab Diesel 83k miles. Truck runs fine while cold. When it starts reaching normal operating temp it starts missing and loosing power when accelerating. Truck idles fine....

Have you changed your oil? Rotella 15W-40. These engines really don't like old oil. It becomes too thick for the injection pump to work correctly. Another possibility is a bad cam sensor on the front of the motor. Most engines call this the crank sensor but on this engine you have to look it up as a cam sensor.
