I have a 97 Buick lesabre it'll die while driving the temp, battery, and oil pressure lights all come on it usually takes the car up to an hour to start. After stopped oil pressure will go to 20-25 but when the key is in the ignition to turn the car over it drops to 0. The problem started a year ago and has gotten worse over time I've brought to to 6 different mechanics and they all say they do know or have to wait for the car to die to check the codes, but sometimes it won't die for days

This issue sounds like u have a bad ignition control module, located directly under ur coilpak. thats wat they do wen they get hot aftr driving a while, shut off while driving(u must b loosing spark to ur plugs)an restarting wen cooled off. one way to check this for urself would b to purchase a spark checker at autozone or pepboys fairly inexpensive, an wen ur car dies, open the hood remove one sparkplug wire install tester between plug an wire, or wire an a good ground an have someone crank engine while u look at the tester bulb,if it lights up an pulses uspark is good,if it doesnt lite up at all while cranking engine ur spark is gone an thats ur problem possibly crank a sensor or the ignition module we mentioned earlier. try mounting the spark checker before the engine dies so u know wat a good spark will look like on that checker..... hope this helps good luck

All six light up when tested. How can I check the crank sensor? No auto service wants to change it w/o knowing a code but it has to die to do that first. Sometimes its weeks days or hours.

I have a 1998 Buick LaSabre with 80,000 original miles. Has always been maintenanced. Problem: At a stop light, died. Had it towed home. Engine is locked up! How could this have happened???

oil pump couild've failed, allowing no oil pressure,or bearing could've spun and threw a rod bearing, usually when this happens there is some fair warnings, like oil light/gauge droping pressure or a loud knocking noise.if you didn't experience any of these I would like to know also.

I drive an hour each way to work. My 1989 Buick LeSabre Limited drives beautifully for about 1/2 an hour. Once it heats up, the "service engine" light comes on the "temp" idiot light flashes and the motor...

Remove battery cables from battery and clean all three of them and the battery side post. Replace bolts. Have seen this a lot working at a buick dealership. One of thee + cables goes to the starter and the other +cable runs the electronics and it appears that you have a bad connection.

OIL LIGHT ON BUICK 97 V-6

Do you do regular oil change? It sounds like the oil pick up tube or pump screen may be plugged or the oil pump may be getting weak. Drain and take the oil pan off check the tube and screen that hangs into the oil pan, clean it if it's dirty. If you have high mileage replace the oil pump better safe than sorry.
