The truck idles rough and when your driving down the road and give it full gas pedal at low speeds it will almost stall. Plugs, rotor and distrubutor cap are all new thinking that was the problem in the first place.

Did you properly gap the plugs when you changed them? Improper spark will cause really rough idling at low RPM like that.

2001 dodge dakoto ran stopped at store turned engine off, back to start engine started but run rough an stalls . wont stay running without foot on gas but runs rough and stalls when take foot off gas

This could be he Idle Control Valve and is around 50 dollars and a easy fix. Also try STP 5 in 1 fuel cleaner for a couple of tanks if you are using the cheap gas

Dodge dakota backfire

It sounds like you need a good tune-up, such as spark plugs and/or wires. They will act up when cold and when warmed by engine temperature will let the engine run smoothly again. And possibly a distributor cap/rotor.
