It's a safety. When you first start car you cannot move shifter until you apply brake pedal - it's a relay your hearing.

Yes but I hear this relay clicking while I am driving the car, every time I press the brake pedal. Also at the same time that this clicking issue happened, when I shift OUT of park, my automatic door locks do not lock anymore. And according to the manual, the door lock feature can not be over-ridden no matter how you set your door locks to un-open

I had a similar issue and found out one of the door switches went bad and was shorting out. The one that went bad was my front passenger side and located it by unplugging the electrical wires from the switch. Replaced the door switch and resolved the door locking and unlocking on its own.

As for the clicking sound I had to have the dealer replace the parking relay. I'm not 100% sure on this or not but I think it was recall issue. Check with your local Chevy dealer to confirm it is a recall issue or not. Either way I had to have it replaced.

Loud noise on my front left side when i brake on my 2006 cobalt

Please have the front wheels pulled and have the brake pads inspected, it sounds like one is worn completely out, this is dangerous.

Sound from undercarriage when braking

See if the noise is also getting louder as you turn one direction or the other. The rubber rubbing sound doesn't ring bells but I suspect the bearings going out on one of your wheels. If it makes a noise when breaking but get louder or better as you turn one direction or the other I would bet bearings. I would look at that.

My 2006 chevy cobalt shuts off sometimes while I'm braking, what could be the problem and how expensive is it to fix?

I`ve experience that problem working on the same vehicle. Try this if you can. Open the hood and listen for vacuum leaks. It will sound like a hissing sound in the engine compartment. The problem that i found working on that same model was a leaking groument on the housing of the brake boost.

2006 Cobalt . The Gear shift is stuck in park.

theres a switch that controls the shifter when the brake is applied. try putting the car into gear with the key on accessory, not on. if it goes into gear the switch needs to be replaced.

Third brake light on constantly, other brake lights seem not to work at all

It sounds like you need a brake light switch. It is mounted under the dash on the pedal assembly. It is easy to change, just twists in place. Good Luck
