I filled my car the other day and the petrol gauge increased as normal. Now when I start the car the gauge gets stuck just above empty. I know there is no leak but I am now not going to know when I am running low until the last minute. Is there anything I can do? the car is a paugoet 206 (not a 405 - 206 was not in the list)

Hi,
This will be 1 of 2 problems. 1. The fuel sender unit which is in the tank is faulty. 2. The fuel gauge itself is faulty.
Have these 2 items checked and let me know if you need more information.
Thanks
Jason

Town and Country Van running out of gas and guage says half a tank what could be the problem?

If your fuel gauge is showing you in accurate readings this is normal to all vehicles that are not used to fill-up gas full regularly but sometimes the cause of the inacuracy is due to faulty float valve in the gas tank you need to replace it

I have a 2001 Ford Focus with 2.0 litre engine, 16 valve Zetec engine. The fuel tank gauge was working fine until I put gas in and the tank gauge shows empty and the fuel tank light is on. ( instrument...

could be stuck or the sender unit has failed and most likely cause is the float has filled with petrol but without a removal of the sender unit and an inspection its only speculation

Petrol gauge stuck on empty and light constantly

Sounds like a broken gas tank sensor in the gas tank. The sending unit has probably gone out.

Petrol gauge was working fine before a 5 week holiday. Car not used during this time. Now petrol gauge shows tank empty, even after I had filled the tank. What is wrong? How do you fix this?

sounds like the float is either got a hole in it and is full of fuel, or the whole float assembly is seized in the empty position.
was the car left for 5 weeks empty of fuel?

Hho no mpg increase on turbo diesel

Hi, try to hook up the hho gas hose into a vacuum line of the crank case (with t-connector) NOT directly b4 the turbo. That might help. Its not getting enough vacuum to "pull" the gas from the cell. How much hho production do you get right now? Greetings, ****

1989 mazda 626 turbo window washer pumps

well the pump for the washer solvent is probably fried (unless there is no solvent in the resovoir). and on the gas gauge the way that works is there is a little float handle that goes up and down with the gas. when you put gas in this little float floats on top of the gas and this is how your car knows how much gas you have it sounds like it is getting stuck and will probably need to be replaced

FUEL GAUGE AND LIGHT STAYS ON NEARLY EMPTY AFTER PUTTTING IN PETROL.WHATS THE MOST LIKLY FAULT. DODGY GAUGE OR FLOAT IN PETROL TANK.THANKS FLYNN.

Do you mean that the gauge registers as empty, even after the tank is filled? Probably the sending unit needs to be replaced (it's in the tank, likely partially attached to the fuel pump).

Faulty petrol gauge

I had same problem with petrol gauge bouncing around all over the place, full tank, half a tank and nearly empty in the space of 10 miles.

I knew that if I filled the tank I would get approx 200 miles for half a tank so I did that for a while and just kept topping up. Audi testing it and the fuel sensors in the tank had to be replaced. I'm afraid its the only permanent solution!
