So just had the same problem with my 2000 Chevy cavalier to bypass the antitheft lock system we turned the key forword and right before the car turned over we cut the yellow wire and the car fired up we let it run for 15min and have not had a problem since. The yellow wire is under the steering wheel... Good luck
Turn the switch to RUN position for 10 minutes until the "theft system" message on the cluster disspears, put the switch back to OFF position wait 5 to 10 seconds and repeat this procedure another 2 times.
After the third attemp you will be able to start your engine without problems..
Good luck I had the same trouble and this info helped me to avoid waisting money
Turn it on for ten min. the theft light will stay on then without turning ignition off just start worked for my cavalier

1998 chevy malibu will not start because of the antitheft light comes on
When I first start my '98 Cavalier it dies immediately and then seems to think I'm trying to steel my own car! This has been happening more and more. I have changed keys - doesn't help. I just end up sitting there for quite a while, open the door, get off the seat and when its ready it just might start! Really getting old.

I changed the main computer, tryed to program the key changed the wireing harness nuthing seems to work, it turns on for about 3 seconds and then turns off. ANY IDEAS WHAT IT MIGHT BE.
