04 Tahoe blowing fusible link in fuse box for starter

My 2004 Tahoe wouldn't start on Sunday. Check battery and starter, but it turned out that the 40amp fusible link in underhood fuse box was blown. Replaced and it started immediately. Drove for two days and went to start it on Wednesday evening and it did it again. Replaced fuse and started immediately.

Any ideas what might be blowing the fuse?

Thanks!

You got it - it was from an aftermarket alarm system that we had removed when we bought it. They left part of the wire and it was shorting. Fixed the wire and fixed the problem. Thanks for your help!

That fixed it - we had an aftermarket alarm system removed when we bought it and they left a couple of the wires loose. It had worked it's way down and was causing the problem. Thanks!

    OK.

THe fuse IGN A. GIve power to a lot of electronics system.

But they have a SMALL fuse for each one.

    BUT. The principal funtion of that fuse is;

Give constant power to RED wire on the ignition switch

    First. REMOVE the steering covers.

Check for any aditional wire connected to the ignition switch wires, For EXAMPLE alarm system. aftermarket lights.

    Brake box for trailer.

    And check for proper funtion.

Check the condition of the wires.

Check for damaged insulation of the wires.

    OK... DO that.

Let me know what you found.

I have a 2000 sportage i stopped it and now it doesnt start i have no power going to fuse box inside

The fuse box by the battery should be directing power to the fuse box inside, either through a maxi-fuse or a fusible link. Check your maxi-fuses, if all are good look for a blown or melted fusible link. If still no help, consult a wiring diagram.

New battery new batterycabel ends started ,now it wont even click no power to anything

Sounds like a fusible link burned out. Check the wires at the battery cable post of the starter. The smaller wires connected here are the fusible links if equipped. If not then check where the smaller positive cable off the battery goes to the fuse box. It will be connected to fuses there which could be burned out.

2005 chevy tahoe battery was hooked up backward !! Not me ! But, Where do I start ?

Start by checking all of the fuses and all of the fusible link wires, and you will know a fusible link wire when you find one because they will stretch similar to a rubber band. Fusible link wires are usually located at the fuse/relay junction box in the engine compartment, or at the starter solenoid, or sometimes at the fire-wall. Also check the fuse/relay junction box for any PAL type of fusible links.

My pacifica was running fine. I stopped and turned it off then tried to start it again after 10 minutes and it would not turn over. U can not even get the starter to try and turn over

there may be a high amp fuse blown or a fusible link blown. check all fuses in the passenger compartment and under the hood. if you find no fuses bad, a fusible link is a large red cable that has a fuse in line. check the red cables leading from the battery to the starter for bulges in the line.

Chrysler 2004 starter doesn,t turn ,battery has 12.7 volts lights and horn works good but starter doesn't even click

My 2004 Sebring did just that. it was a fusible link. a tiny square box in there with the fuses. they are a cube that plugs in about 3/8" of an inch square. Find the bad one replace it and the starter starts working again.

Can't find fuse box on 2004 ford explorer.....

It would either be under dash or on side of kick panel, or behind or under glove box. Also under hood in black box on firewall.

If you find the fuse and it is good, than I would check the fusible link that runs off battery and heads to ignition system. The little black fuse inside fusible link can blow while jumping or connecting battery cables backwards.
