I have a 2003 Audi TT Roadster 1.8 Automatic. When the engine gets to normal running temp (Halfway on the meter), I notice the shifting between gears is very jerky and harsh. When the engine is cold or at about 1/3rd, it's fine, no problems. But when it heats up, it suddenly becomes very rough. The RPM's will shoot up and then shift late, jerking me forward, or have rough transitions coming down. Anything I can do?

Hi, it is the drive band for the deflector. There is a single motor behind the driver, this drive the two screws via a band. It i shard to see but when the roof is in the down position remove the trim and you can see both screws which raise the glass. The glass is seated within single metal bracket, if you feel follow the top of the screws you will find the band.

I had the same problem the glass would only raise on the drivers side then stop with acracking sound, which was the trim luckily, on inspection I found the drive band had worn away, so the motor ws only driving one side.

I would first check the level. If it is good then do a regular fluid/filter change. Do NOT do a flush. Just a regular change.

If it works well in all other gears and the car runs well and there is not check wngine light. Then it is probable a early sign of Tran issues. So the fluid change is about all you can do without major work needed.

Get the transmission scanned at the dealership. If it has incorrect gear ratio code stored, it needs a transmission. Only the torque convertor or valve body can be replaced for any repairs at the dealership, so it needs to be diagnosed correctly. Any authorized ZF transmission repair shop can also repair them, more than the Audi dealerships can, so thats another alternative.
