Headlights come on by remote and some times they dont. I tried using the switch on manual and sometime it works and sometimes not. Parking lights, directionals, dashall work fine. The only problem is the headlights not working.

my headlights will turn off unexpectedly in auto and manual mode, high beam and low beam.  the only way i can have headlights is to pull the hi/lo switch back.  after varying times (5 - 10 min) normal function will return but then the cycle repeats.  suggestions?

I also have a 2004 grand marquis with the same identical problem. The headlights will turn off and will not come back on in either auto or manual mode. They will come back on after 5 to 10 minutes and then the cycle repeats itself. Did anyone find out the solution or defective part?

    Thanks, Dan

If you have a 1999-2011 Mercury Marquis, Mercury Marauder, or Crown Victoria, and your headlights and or tail lights don't work, Ford just finally extended the warranty on your LCM (Lighting Control Module) for free - both parts and labor and will install a new one for free! Ford has extended the warranty to 15 years/250,000 miles. It must be done at a Ford Dealer and the fix is free. Call your local ford Dealer and tell them you need to make an appointment because your headlights don't work and Ford has extended your warranty on the LCM. Tell them it is the Customer Satisfaction Program 14N01. Have your Vin number ready as they will ask for it. You don't have to be the original owner. If they act like they don't know what you are talking about ask to talk to the manager or tell them to call Ford Motor Company and ask them, or you can call Ford yourself. We had ours done at a Ford dealer in August of 2014 in Scottsdale, AZ. It is a 15 year warranty and if you have a 1999, the deadline might have passed, but call them and ask them to see if it has. Maybe it hasn't."

My headlights and running lights don't work and my high beams barely stay on. Sometimes I have to hold up the high beam lever to make them stay on. I have checked the circuit breakers and they are not

On this model the headlight switch provides ground for the lights.
You have a right and left 15amp fuse for the headlights, not circuit breakers.
The parking lights use 3 different fuses. The headlight switch sends power to the body computer which activates a parking lamp relay.
Those components would need to be tested to verify the problem.

relay coil may be a bit weak and is sharing power with the headlight relay. Try swapping the relay with the horn relay or another similar one that is non-essential to operation of the car. If that doesn't work, you may have a loose wire on the headlight switch or at the relay socket.

Headlights work but parking lights dont..

if u have change and check the bulbs and fuses. great. fuses do go lose in a cherokee . move each fuse by hand while the lights are on or the switch is in the on position. if you find the problem this way. just take the fuse out and slightly twist the prong of the fuse and replace it back and ditto. make your daughter say " u d grate dad"

Green light on instrument panel

Hiya--the green headlamp logo on the instrument panel comes on automatically after you start up the engine.
The green light comes on when your headlight switch is on 'auto' until you turn it to 'parking lights' or 'full on' function, that'll turn off the green light...it's normal.
The other thing is if one of 2 headlight bulb reach the end of bulb life, the green light will flash on/off a few times then stay off....until you or the garage shop put in new headlight bulb.
