Driver's door handle will not open the door

Something is apparently broken in the front driver's side door handle assembly. can I fix it myself?

    1997 Park Ave Ultra with the same problem. I took off the door panel and discovered the door handle is behind some sheet metal, so I really can't see what's broken. Bummer. It looks like a trip to the mechanic is in order here.

    my 2005 pacifica has a broken handle also, it wouldnt open so i tried to open it from insode and now its just loose and wont latch shut. i had to drive arund holding it closed!

    My door opens from the inside. I'm told if I can take off the panel (inside the door) I can fix it myself easily. My question is: how do I take off the panel on the inside?

Take it to the buick dealer. As the daughter of a mechanic, it was a call I didn't want to make! The dealer installed two handles for me and painted them to match for under $100.00. Well worth the trip.

2008 ford fusion driver side door will not open from the inside
You will need to remove the door handle, but you may have to pull the door trim plate first. Pull the handle assembly outward and inspect it to make sure the inner door connector rods are attached. These are held in place with plastic pieces, and plastic parts on the door handle. Replace the handle if the rod loop is broken. Replace the door rod ends with new hardware. This can all be done in your driveway, and requires very little mechanical knowledge or skills.

My driver side door handle is broken on a 2003 VW new beetle. How can I fix it?
remove the inside door trim and remove the weatherproof plastic that covers the holes in the door behind the trim.
You should have access to the door handle nuts and rods to remove the handle.
re assemble in the reverse order and make sure the weatherproof plastic is put back on and sealed or your door may let water enter the car via the door

Replacing the driver side inside door handle
Find and remove two screws visible on the door panel, including underneath small covers. Pop them off with a small screwdriver. Lift front edge of control panel, then pull forward and lift out. Pull upper door panel from door. Disconnect courtesy light connector. Disconnect door open handle cable assembly and door lock cable assembly. You might need to lift panel and twist to get it off.

Broken passenger door handle
Same problem. I have a 2000 Suzuki Esteem GL. A year ago the driver's door handle broke. Heard a sound and then it was loose. Could not open it from outside. Had to open front passenger door, open the driver's door from inside and then go out again to enter from the driver's door. FRUSTRATING. My mechanic had to take the door apart to fix it. Just a week ago, my front passenger door died on me. Can't open it from outside nor inside. The door won't open. This is such a stupid problem that costs lots to repair. Never will buy a Suzuki again. Had too many problems with it (had to fix gas tank, doors that won't open, front axle...).
