It is most likely an automatic awd, 4 hi is full time 4 wheel drive, 4 lo is full time 4 wheel drive but at a very low gear ratio and should not exceed 25 mph or could cause damage. and DO NOT shift into 4 lo while vehicle is in motion. Auto is a 2 wheel drive but automatically engages into 4 wheel drive under heavy acceleration.

Is there anyway to flat tow my 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT. with no 4 wheel drive?

Hello Poca Buchanan,

WRONG.

Your "rental" FOLKs do NOT know of what they speak.

Your owners manual... Pages 192 & 246 both confirm... that your vehicle can be towed... and the SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES.

Drive wheels can only be towed in EMERGENCIES...
NOT to exceed 35 miles per hour...
Not to exceed 50 miles...!!

~~
If the drive wheels are off the ground... REGULAR TOWING PRECAUTIONS SHOULD APPLY.

(lets say a rear wheel drive... if the REAR WHEELS are on a carrier... you should be all PEACHES (reverse tow)).

If you cannot limit your distance or speed... and drive wheels are ON-THE GROUND...

Your DRIVE SHAFTS should be removed to protect the transfer case and/or transmission (by an AUTHORIZED FORD TECHNICIAN).

If you require assistance or clarification on Ford Motor Company policies or procedures, please contact the Ford Customer Relationship
Center at 1-800-392-3673 (FORD)

Hope this helps!!

2wd front wheel need to replace bearings or hub assembly which is best

A Front Wheel Drive Vehicle Can Have Two Types Of Rear Wheel Bearings: Serviceable Bearings, Or Nonserviceable, Sealed Bearings. When Sealed Bearings Fail, The Bolts Holding The Bearing And Hub To The Axel Or Control Arm Must Be Removed. When Installing The New Bearing Assembly, Torque The Bolts To Specifications. Some Manufacturers require The Use Of New Fasteners When Rear Bearings And Hubs Are Replaced.

When A Serviceable Wheel Bearing Is Used, The Bearing Can Be Disassembled And Packed With Grease. It Is Serviced Like A Front Wheel Bearing On A Rear-wheel-Drive-Car.

2003 Ford Explorer Sport rear turn signal acting up

if it's only the rear turn signal that does this, check the plug where the bulb snaps in. if loose or bad connection to bulb, it will sometimes work and sometimes not. if its both the front and rear turn signal bulbs, could be the combination switch. these were common failures on fords
