You are some how putting power to the switch side of the solenoid on the fire wall. Take a test light and check the S switch side of the solenoid, it should only be hot when the key switch is turned on. It you have crossed this wire inside them you may be making this wire hot all the time. I would re check how you wired your radio.

Fix keep alive memory 1991 olds

If your asking about the radio channels and radio clock, there is a wire that is always hot that has to be connected to the radio's always alive wire. If it is not hooked to the wire that is always hot, (like hooked to an ignition wire) then it will not be hot and every time the ignition is turned off, you will lose the clock time and channels memory. If you have a test light, check the wires at the radio (with the key off) and see which one is hot. If none are hot, then you have a blown fuse or wire broken.

Radio does not come on when the key turns on. checked fuses in side pannel all good, where else can i check?

you will need to find the wires on the back of the radio and make sure the hot wire is getting juice to it also if it is an aftermarket radio some require that the constant power be hooked up as well in order for it to work. howevwer the factory radio on most models will not need the constant power except for memory only. also if it is aftermarket radio there will be an inline fuse on the hot wire and constant. also need to check ground. no ground no power. all of that being checked and still no power u may have to break down and find a new radio

My car radio changes back to 12:oo every time I start the car, general fuses seem fine. Just got a new starter. Are there back up fuses?

Hello, my name is Ben. Most likely someone has hooked up your radio wrong. It is supposed to be powered by a "constant hot" power source. It sounds like yours is hooked up to a power source that only comes on when the key is turned on. You will need to change where the radio gets power from to a constant hot wire.

Radio wire harness cut

You can buy a kit from a number of sources to solve this problem. Instructions come with the kit. If you are putting a stock radio back in go to a junk yard and cut the loom out of another truck and marry it to your truck. If you don't want to do either of these things the fat red wire is almost always hot. The antenna cable is unique and will only fit in one spot. the speaker wires are small diameter and will work no matter which way you hook them up as long as one hot (speaker) wire and one ground wire go to each speaker. Have fun.

Have to turn the radio off manually and the clock radio stays on

Your radio power wire is hooked to the wrong power wire in the dash. The stock radio was hooked to a wire which was only hot when the ignition was turned on. A second wire provided continuous power to maintain the radio presets.

1996 chevy 1500

with the ignition in the "off" position get a test light and touch one wire at a time while cycling the ignition switch to the "on" position, When you see that the test light goes off when the ignition switch is in the off position then you found the hot wire, make sure you dont hook it up to the "alway hot " wire or you might drain the battery hope this helps.
