Call your local auto store. Should be somewhere around 35-45 I would think, but you also need to make sure it holds for a bit not running.

Seems like the cable is broken (only a few strands left & stretched). Remove the cable & check it out. Probably needs to be replaced.

sure the only vac item that really matters is the ign vac advance , but engine should start and idle on "base" timing it just wont have any power to speak of without advance of timing

If this is a petrol engine have a look at the brake booster leaking vacuum and running the engine too lean to idle. Test by allowing to idle with out your foot on the brake If applying brake pressure shuts the engine down ,replace the brake booster..

Any engine can be replaced. Most of all you need to look at engine mountings and space, electrical harness + computer and then Gearbox and differential specs. 4 cylinder gearbox will not be very good with a 6 cylinder engine. you will have high refs but no speed. if you have older v6, you might get away with electronics as a lot of them a straight forward. need a bit of work but doable.
