SOURCE: when i try to start my 97 silverado it takes like

Check the fuel pressure - you should have 45 - 50 psi of fuel pressure when you turn the key on - this is immediate. If it takes more than that or it takes awhile for the fuel pressure to come up you need a fuel pump.

SOURCE: keep burning up fuel pumps

Don't buy carter pumps for sure, I know champion makes a damn good pump, but you might want to do some research for yourself. remember you get what you pay for and just replacing the fuel pump is a pain in the @$$ so spending alittle extra for a quality pump is worth not having to change it again

SOURCE: Engine runs extremely rough, seems to be fuel

Have you changed the plugs, if any are fouled out or if any are worn, it takes more to fire it under load and may be spark knocking because one of the plugs can't fire off all the gas and cause it to skip or idle rough.

SOURCE: 1999 5.3 vortec silverado 4x4. Engine intermitient hard start.

Had a similar problem and turned out to be a fuel regualtor.
Be careful with the little o-ring. Tricky little devil.
There may be residual pressure in the line so be careful you don't take a shower in gasioline.

It was hard to start after warm up. Rough idle until driving. Then on shut off it was hard to start.

89 f150 will start but after choke let's idle down it dies or if you even touch the gas. It had sat up for 5 years but the first time I got it started it drove for over an hour.

The damage is already done. Gasoline breaks down within 1 year. Drain and flush the old fuel out of the gas tank(s). Try adding Chevron Techron fuel injection cleaner to the replacement gas. That may work. However, you probably need to remove all the fuel injectors [if it's a fuel injected engine] and have them sent out to be professionally [ultrasonic] cleaned and tested. Fords are notorious for fuel injector problems. Also do a fuel system pressure test, as the bad gas may have damaged the electric fuel pump [located in the fuel tank(s). For a carbureted engine, you will need to have the carburetor overhauled or replaced with a rebuilt unit. NEVER let a vehicle sit unused for more than 6 months without first treating the gasoline. I always add a fuel stabilization product like Sta-Bil to the fuel, if the engine will not be run for at least 2 months or more. Adding these products after the fuel has gone bad [is already old] will not help. Then it's to late. Below is a link for Sta-Bil. I've used this product for over 20 years. It will save a LOT of grief, when storing vehicles or gas powered lawn equipment. See

93 altima same fuel injector goes bad 2 times in 1 month

how did you find out it is the injector causing the problem? the injectors are wired in series on these vehicles, it is possible that another faulty injector may be causing the problem. although it may be difficult to find if this happens intermittently. A scope test may be the only way to find the problem. Does the engine light come on with a misfire code on Cylinder #1? P0301 or r u just getting a random misfire code P0300 ? a bit more info on the vehicle may also be helpful........ engine size? # of cylinders 4 or 6 ?

Ran out of gas ran fine for about 2 days went to friends when leaving it died, started right back up,but shaking real bad like a missfire, checked and seems the coil packs r ok,

Sounds like something in fuel system is clogged form running to low on fuel if vehicle is old and fuel filter has not been replaced for a long time.
It does not take much but a small particle to clog injector or it could be fuel pump is going out. You need to check fuel pressure and change filter and also you might have to get fuel system flushed and you might just have replace injector at worst. Hope this helps

2000 GMC Sierra w/4.3 misfire on #2,4 cylinders

If it were low fuel pressure misfire , it wouldn't be cylinder specific misfire #2 , 4 it would be P0300 random misfire . I would think fuel injector's too . When hot they could be breaking down electrically , more resistance . If they tested electrically with a lab scope they would know for sure . Misfire from sticking fuel injector no fuel misfire

Throwing P0301 and P0302 fault codes as of yesterday. Check engine light has been on and threw code of P1450 about 3-4 months ago. Figured it was an evap issue and no big deal thats why I never remedied...

those are misfire codes. Cylinder #1 & #2 in the firing order. Check for bad plugs first. Swap one of the misfires with a non misfire cylinder and see if that cylinder misfires. Or just change the 2 plugs. Put high temp anti seize on the threads if you ever want to remove them later.

Then change the 2 COPs (Coil on Plug).

Finally, check for plugged or bad injectors. CHevron Techron injector cleaner is the best. Add to 1/4 tank of gas for better cleaning.

Report results.

Please rate too. Thanks.

Son put theplug for the 2.4 instead of the plugs for the 2.2 in his cavalier and he only clipped one with a piston (Missfire)
Do you have the fireing order correct?

What are spider injectors and how much are they

The term "spider injectors" stems from the Vortec Series Engine's fuel injection system. Unlike fuel injectors that are installed individually commonly used in engines, this one piece molded plastic web body which all 6 or 8 injectors are permantly attached(94-96), when looked at resembles a look of a spider. est. cost $350-$450. In 97 on up, GM changed from the fixed injector (If one injector goes bad you need to change the whole or all injectors) to being able to individually change each injector. est cost $50-$150 ea.
