Hi i have a 92 jeep cherokke sport manual transmission and i need to know where the fill and drain plugs are located.

Oilman

There should be a plug on the bottom of the transmission to drain and a plug on the side to fill it.
No spark could be a relay or the coil among other things. You may need a shop manual and wiring diagram to troubleshoot the ignition system.

Hello,
Manual transmissions have a fill plug and a drain plug on the side of the transmission. The fill plug is a little above the drain plug. Pull the fill plug and fill the transmission until the transmission fluid just barely seeps out and re-plug the transmission. That is the proper way to fill it. You will need a long stem funnel to give you the room you need to fill it. Your transmission requires a 10W30 weight motor oil, just like your engine. If you have a little time and 3 or 4 quarts of oil laying around you can pull the fill plug first and THEN the drain plug and let all the oil drain out. Then plug the transmission and re-fill it with fresh oil and this is a transmission flush for your transmission. You just saved $70 shop charge doing this. I say pull the fill plug first and THEN the drain plug because the last thing you want to do is pull the drain plug first and then find out the fill plug has welded itself and won't come out and now you can't fill the transmission. Fill plug first always.

Manual Transmission
The level of lubricant in the transmission should be maintained at the filler hole on all manual transmissions. This hole is on the right side. When you check the level in the transmission, make sure that the vehicle is level so that you get a true reading. When you remove the filler plug, lubricant should run out of the hole. Replace the plug quickly for a minimum loss of lubricant. If lubricant does not run out of the hole when the plug is removed, lubricant should be added until it does. Replace the plug as soon as the lubricant reaches the level of the hole.

DRAIN AND REFILL
Remove the drain plug which is at the bottom of the transmission. Allow all the lubricant to run out before replacing the plug. Replace the case with the correct viscosity oil. All manual transmissions use SAE 75W-90 API quality Grade GL-5 gear lubricant. Tighten the fill hole plug to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).

the check/fill plug is located on the left side of the transmission possibly on the right depends on the transmission its about mid way up on the side of transmission to check remove plug and if the gear oil starts to run out just a little its fine if u want to replace the fluid drain the transmission and fill till the fluid just starts to come out of the fill/check plug sight. hope this helps with what u need to do.

I don't know if there is a fill plug. I just use the level plug located on driver's side right above the inner CV joint of the half-shaft (axle) to fill it. A piece of flexible tubing connected to a funnel works well. The drain plug is fairly near the center of the bottom of the gearbox housing (behind the bell housing). The level plug has a 24mm, fairly flat, hex head, and the drain plug is a recessed plug with a 3/8" (?) square hole (for a socket handle).

I assume you have an automatic transmision (the manual is basically "fill and forget unless it leaks" as it wasn't designed with a drain point, but check the level periodically, anyway) Like pretty much all auto trans, the filter is located inside the bottom pan, and for Saab is a metal encased rectangular unit, with rounded end. It is cleanable and re-used. Drain the pan; clean the pan exterior and drop it; remove filter mounting bolts and filter and clean with suitable solvent or clean ATF; clean pan and magnet in pan and reinstall magnet in the SAME position; re-install filter with NEW O ring; dry pan and re-install with NEW gasket (no sealant); install drain plug; re-install cross members/support plates what have you torques: pan mounting bolts 71-106 in-lb drain plug 44-71 in-lb REFILL the transmission, and with handbrake on and engine running, shift through all gears. pull the lower plug from the transmission, it will be on the bottom or the side on the bottom. replace the plug after draining and remove the fill plug wich is about half way up the side of the transmission. use 75w 90 gear oil in the trans.
