Cold outside, on interstate my Intrigue started acting sluggish. couldn't get to 70mph. was only going 50mph. Service engine soon light was flashing and kept flashing the whole rest of the drive even after the problems seemed to subside. Then the problem returned with the sluggish acceleration and the engine was getting rather rough near the end of the trip...

Any check engine/service engine soon light? Could be a clogged catalytic convertor, search for cleaning a catalytic convertor. Try cleaning the mass air flow sensor, it is before the throttle plate. If you are losing coolant, your engine is prone to this, it could be leaking intake gaskets.
Read the engine light on the OBDII then post the code if your code reader doesnt have the explanation of the code ,although i would suspect a faulty O2 sensor not giving the right fuel ratio but ? iam always wrong here when i guess things
Sounds like you have a shift control problem, either in the transmission or the ECM controlling it. Check for trouble codes (DTCs) with a good code reader.
Usually takes quite a few starts before it will erase/reset itself, such as 50 on some vehicles. Can always return to autozone and ask to scan and erase, then see if it comes back.
It is possible that when you had an oilchange the oil used was 10/40 which is correct for this vehicle BUT i would advocate that a thicker oil is used for this mileage say 20/50.
all cars will use/burn oil and i always ask my customers how much oil they put in from the last service so that i can judge what oil to use.Thin oils (5/30)should only be used for new cars, and even then
keep an eye on oil usage/burn.....
We have all read,in various publications that "using the wrong oil can cause damage"but after 40 years in the trade,i have NEVER had a complaint or any engine damaged by this method of filling
at service.(we had forty bays in my last dealership.)
THE SERVICE SOON LIGHT IS DIFFERENT FROM THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT. MINES ARE ALSO ON AS WE SPEAK . I THINK I NEED TO SERVICE MY ABS BRAKES. WHEN YOU PUT YOUR CAR ON THE SCAN IT SCAN ENGINE CODES
