Your filter is on top of the fuel pump and sending unit at the tank. filter is now part of the pressure regulator.

how are the spark plugs?

would start with those.

the fuel filter is usually located under the hood by the intake manifold and attached to the firewall of the car. the pump is located right by the fuel tank and if you cant see it then its inside the fuel tank. (you will have to lower the fuel tank down to get to the pump.)

Either above or in a little (removeable) metal "cage" almost directly over the rear axle. Follow the fuel lines and you can't miss it! Cheers!

My 1999 Jeep Cherokee classic runs but cuts off and I've replaced the fuel pump three times. It runs good for a while then cuts off.I was wondering what else could it be ?

Have you tried to replace the fuel filter.....sometimes this inexpensive item is often overlooked! It is possible you have some debris in it that gets in the way intermittently and cuts off the flow! If you found this answer helpful please vote so! Thanks

Where is the fuel filter located, ona 99 jeep grand cherokee?

Hello,

There are 2 filters.
  1. One is on the end of the pickup tube inside of the gas tank.
  2. The second is in-line, above the front edge of the gas tank, inboard of the frame member. It is part of the fuel regulator/filter assembly.

Here's a diagram:

Can't find fuel filter on 1999 jeep cherokee

By now you probably found it, but, if not, it's on the inside of the chassis rail, about even with the front of the left rear tire. If not there, then it's inside the tank, part of the fuel pump sending unit (I know...dumb)
When changing it new filter is labeled in and out. "out" side goes towards engine If not labeled this way it may have an arrow (points to engine). When disconnecting it, wrap a rag around it to prevent squirting gas in your eyes. Don't have your head directly under it either. Have the new filter ready to install so too much gas doesn't go all over the place.
Good Luck
