I know that on GM vehicles the MAF is located in a plastic intake tube on top of the engine.
The following I found for the MAF for the 2000 Mitsubishi Galant on my online resource.

Could also try autozone.com for further help.
MAF Sensor Mass Airflow (MAF) sensors measure the weight and rate of air moving through a passage of a known volume or size. Typically, MAF sensors utilize hot wire or thick film technology. Signals generated may be analog or digital depending on manufacturer. As more air passes through the MAF sensor, the voltage or frequency increases proportionally. The PCM uses this information to calculate injector pulse-width and spark advance. Performance issues from MAF sensor failures range from no-start conditions to stalling, hesitation, stumble and improper air/fuel mixtures. The MAF sensor values vary from 0.2V (0 gm/sec) to 4.8V (175 gm/sec).
Some manufacturers incorporate the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor as part of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (Air Flow Meter).
Some manufacturers incorporate a 6.0V to 9.0V circuit from the MAF sensor to the PCM to control the MAF sensor reset signal.

How do you reset the computer on a 2000 Mitsubishi galant 2.4 l es and does anybody know where the MAF sensors regulator is located

Explain what you mean by reset

When you clear codes, you clear all
data, needed to work on the vehicle
& find problems

There is nothing that gets reset that fixes
any issues, on any vehicles

The MAF Sensor is in the same place on all vehicles

Between the air filter & the intake manifold

You can use the internet to see pictures of just
about any item

Why my galant 92 model that the idle not stable in will up and down and sunddenly the engine shutt off.i change fuel pump, ignition coil, the spark plug, but still in that problem, pls help me to this...

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

It's common on Mitsubishi cars specially when the car ages. The problem will surely be on the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. The MAF controls the vacuum supply in the car and has connectivity on the air and fuel mixture.

If the MAF sensor is faulty, you'll have erratic idle. Sometimes will result to stalling too. The MAF sensor is located in the throttle body where the air intake tube is connected. Once replaced you'll be good.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

2000 Mitsubishi Galant Dying at Random

It seems like a ground problem. First check all fuses to see that they have a good contact. Second, verify the battery terminals for good contact. Third verify the charging condition in the alternator battery system., remember shoul be around 14volts with car running.

I just got my 89 galant running after 8 years...i flushet the fuel system and it seams to run good but when you start out in first it is slugish till the rpm's get up and it seems to pull fine...but now my...

You will need to pull the trouble codes out of the computer to know what area to look in.I have a 91 Galant, and it recently had similar symptoms, and kept setting two codes,an Air Intake Temeprature (AIT) code, and a motor position code.Turns out,the Air Intake Temp sensor is actaully built into the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.Replaced the MAF,and both codes went away, for good.So it is essential to pull the codes as the code definition is the diagnostic route/area of the problematic system. It could very well be the O2 sensor though, and if you don't mind spending money, replace it and see what happens.Disconnect the negative battery terminal 20 minutes to reset the computer and clear the trouble codes.Good luck
