I am trying to check transmission fluid level but I can not locate the transmission stick

IF YOU HAVE THE AF23-5 TRANSAXLE OR THE VT25- E VTI. TRANSAXLE YOU NEED A SCAN TOOL TO MONITORING TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURE WHILE CHECKING TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURE.YOUR VECHICLE TRANSAXLE DONT HAVE A DIP STICK TO CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL.YOUR TRANSMISSION HAS A DRAIN PLUG LOCATED BOTTOM OF TRANSAXLE BELOW FORWARD OF THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE DRIVEAXLE FACING RIGHT SIDE OF VECHICLE.YOUR VECHICLE HAS TO BE RAISED LEVEL ON A LIFT.TO CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID.YOUR TRANSMISSION IS A DEALERSHIP FIX.WAY TRANSMISSION SET UP DEALERSHIP HAS TO CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID.

I would ask Standard or automatic since the vehicle came with both as an option but it really doesn't matter. The fluid is located in the Transmission itself. If you have an automatic there is a dip stick located near the firewall under the hood you can use to check the fluid level with. If it is a Standard or manual transmission you will have to locate the check fill plug on the transmission under the vehicle to check the fluid level with the end of your finger.

DONT HAVE ONE WHERE DIP STICK USE TO BE IS A RED VENT FILL CAP THATS WHERE YOU POUR TRANSMISSION FLUID. BUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS MADE FOR DEALERSHIP TO CHECK.THEY HAVE TO RAISE VECHICLE LEVEL AND ON THE TRANSAXLE HOUSING THERE IS A CHECK PLUG ITS LOCATION ITS ABOVE THE OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG.WITH VECHICLE RUNNING UP IN AIR LEVEL ON THE LIFT.THE CHECK PLUG IS REMOVED IF NO FLUID COMES OUT CHECK PLUG HOLE ADD PINT DONT OVERFILL.IF FLUID POUR TOO MUCH FLUID IN TRANSMISSION IF SLOW DRIP FLUID LEVEL CORRECT.

Access to the transmission dip stick is not easy. It is hidden deep under tube and wiring beneath the air intake tube near the battery, it has a yellow top labelled 'Trans' and has a clip that secures the top in place. Check the fluid level when the engine is running and the transmission is in 'park'. If low find some suitable hose to locate it into the dip stick tube and then fit a funnel in the end of this 'extension'. The fluid specified is AW5, Volvo part number 1161540-8, do not use anything else as some fluids do not mix well. Add fluid about a pint a time and check the level each time.

Locate the transmission dip stick. To check on levels start the engine and put into 'park'. let it run for a minute and now check the dip stick for levels. Additional fluid can be added via the dip stick tube. I recommend adding no more than half a litre at a time and then checking the level again; all the while the engine should be running whilst in 'park' is selected on the transmission.

hello. all of the fluid checking sticks are located under the hood. These include oil level, brake fluid level and usually transmission fluid level. regards, Joe

The 2002 Axiom does not have a dipstick to check the transmission fluid. The holding tank is on the right side by the brake fluid. Check your levels & fill if needed there. It has a "sealed" transmission.

The transmission fluid needs to be replaced and checked at a transmission shop or the dealer. In the manual is the information you need to when the transmission is due for service to keep your car running 100% and to keep the warranty valid. Good luck and hope this helps. 

Like many new cars there is no dip stick, the fluid level can only be checked at the dealer with a scan tool to verify trans fluid temp before checking the level, does it leak?
