Its possible.

Whenever the check engine light comes on the VSC and Traction control will disable because they need the engine at 100% in order to function correctly. Since the ABS light is on I would have to wonder if it isn't an abs problem. Since the VSC and Traction control use the ABS sensors/system to function.

Or there is a problem with both the engine and the ABS.

The only way to know for sure is to have the PCM scanned and the ABS module to see what is goind on.

Check engine light and vsc trac off lights stay on. Cannot turn svc off by pressing button on Dash

Hi, have you scanned the vehicle to see why your check engine light is on? IF no, you need to. Toyota/Lexus computer system illumniates both engine light and VSC lights whenver a fault occurs in either unit. VSC or stability control is like trac-control or ABS braking system. Get car scanned and make sure all computers are scanned for additional codes, repair them first reset lights and test drive. ON a side note, fixing check engine light will usually take VSC light away also, however sometimes the VSC system will glitch out and a Steering Angle relearn is necessary, it takes about 3mins to perform and a good quality scan tool with 2004 current software. Good Luck.

VSC light came on, why?

Most of the time the VSC light will come on with check engine and trac off light. (picture of veh with squiggle lines behind it) Whatever triggers a Check eng turns the vsc and trac systems off. could be a loose gas cap or something related to emissions system. Most times it will have to be diagnosed. Veh maybe equipped to turn vsc off, there would be a button for it.

Toyota 2001, 4-runner, 158k...the check engine,VSC/TRAC, and TRAC OFF warning lights came on at the same time and have stayed on...what could be the problem?

VSC lights always go on during a "Check engine" period so just get the engine fault code and DIY or go to a TRUSTED mechanic (or someone you trust goes to).It is likely an emissions problem.

When the vsc trac light comes on my 2003 Toyota 4 Runner, what does that mean?

As long as it does'nt stay on it's doing what it's suposed to be doing which is saving you from going out of control. It'll come on more often if you drive like hell, run with low tracktion tires or worn out ones and if the air pressure is low. If your tires have over 80,000 miles on them even if the tread is still good their bad tires as their skating along and the trackstion system is working hard to keep the car under control. If the tires aren't al the same size it'll do it to. ( fronts worn out backs still with tread.) Mis matched tires too. Ifthe light stays on other light's are bound to be coming on too the ABS light the brake light, and even the engine light as their all involved in traction control.

My vsc trac warning light and check engine light went on

Please, make your mechanic check the ABS computer. My RAV4 did the same thing, but the mechanical components were alright. After a while, I almost fell off a cliff because my brakes stopped responding properly. When further checked, my mechanic discovered that the ABS computer was damaged. The part alone costs a whooping $3 thousand bucks, not including labor. So, beware and take precautions. Your life may be endangered.
