Front end noise and wobble, just replace left cv axel

Best approach is to acquire a repair manual for that vehicle. Pep Boys or similar will likely have one..

You also could have received a bad axle. Sometimes the rebuilds don't hold good tolerance and can make the same noise you are trying to get rid of. Is it full-time 4wd? Maybe the driveshaft ujoint also.

make sure the new axles match up to exact length of old ones. sometimes aftermarket or rebuild cv axles are slightly shorter also possible the new axles are for a different model passat, thus when tightening the new axle in place it slips out.

It sounds like it is a front end suspension problem. The following should be checked: upper and lower ball joints, the sway bars links, and even the shocks. Replace what is problematic, and your front-end noise should disappear, if it is a front suspension problem. Hopefully, this will FixYa problem!
