The heat is generated by a heater/small radiator in the dash. That small radiator uses hot coolant from the engine. The temperature is adjusted by varying the amount of hot water flowing thru it with a valve. That valve is commanded by a lever to which a cable coming from the temperature button is fixed - this mechanism no longer works causing the valve to remain shut so you end up with no heat.
You must access the back of the rear console to inspect and replace the failed part: the button, the cable, the lever or the valve itself. Of course you must do that with the engine cold.
The entire procedure is explained in detail - with pictures and diagrams - in this repair manual

Buick idle at 1700 dies when putting it in reverse

Manifoild air leak causing engine to idle too fast. Check for air hose leaks. Some are palstic mated with rubber hose sections. Both can crack and leak.

If engine stalls when stopped at light, torque converter may not be unlocking.

Are blows warm on drivers side

If the air temp is not as it should be on one side, the problem could be the controller or a blend door under the dash.

NO HEAT 2000 buick lesabre

If this Buick has a 3.8L, there are air bleed valves that must be opened to ensure the cooling system does not develop an air lock. (Wich would cause a no heat condition). If the thermostat is functioning properly you may want to check if there is flow through the heater core. Check by feeling each heater hose at the firewall with engine at opperating temp. They should both be hot and close in temp. A noticable temp difference in the two hoses would most likely be a flow problem, either from an air lock, bad t-stat or plugged heater core. Good luck.
