My 2003 Chevy Blazer 4x4 lost fuel power while I was going down the highway. Now when I attempt to start it, it turns over but wont start. I am thinking fuel pump but want to be sure before I spend the money on it! The battery is EXTREMELY low now for some reason, even on jumper cables when I turn it over the gauge goes all the way down........any ideas where to start?

Many possibilities.
Ignition, lack of spark or damaged crank position sensor - if that is broken computer doesnt see engine turning and wont send signal to ignition system
Fuel delivery system, your car may have one or two pumps
Malfunctioning anti theft system which prevents from starting
Faulty ignition switch

When you turn ignition key from OFF to RUN (engine not running), you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds and then shut off.

Best to check fuel pressure to be certain.

I had the same problem in Opel Vectra
My friend is working in Umi services dep
He checked the fuel pump in aspecial device
And found that the pressor in the pump is not enough , i replace anew one and the problem Disappeared.
In some cases u should check the wired cables carefuly recomanded to relaze the battary before .
Ensure that the cables is connected well.

Check the oil level. low oil pressure will cause the vehicle to automatically shut down (ASD Relay) This is a safety feature to prevent catastrophic engine failure. Also check the oil pressure sending unit and its wiring. ususally located near the oil filter

ASD is found on Chrysler's . The oil switch on GM's was a backup to the fuel pump relay and had no effect unless the fuel pump relay was bad .

Check your connections. did you run the fuel pump wiring under the drivers side door sash like GM did?.. if so check for nicks in the wire or bending or cracks.. this happens.. happened to me. check your fuel pressure. 40 dollar part at an auto store. If its below 59 PSI it wont work. And blazers are very intolerable to low fuel pressure. Also try taking the negative post off your battery for a little while and then putting it back on and if you can get it started again drive around (if its safe and running decent) for at least 30 minutes to get your car computer system acclimated to a new functioning part. Did you check the fuel filter?. rule of thumb when a pump goes change the filter its always the last thing people expect because we all jump to catastrophic engine failure at the first no start moment. lol.
Make sure that all your ducks are in get my drift.. Air oxygen fuel thats the mixture you need to check all those vital parts. before pulling your head off.

if this is the vortec engine you may want to check to confirm that the injector pot is working. The injector pot is located under the air intake manifold (top half only) & PLEASE BE SURE TO DISCONECT BATTERY FIRST. if you unbolt the top half of the intake manifold you will find the main injector pot otherwise known as the SPIDER. This part does have a history of failing and can be very costly to replace if you purchase it new. most junk yards should be able to find one for you.

My 1998 chevy blazer died going down the highway, what is wrong?

Multiple possibilities. Will start with easiest/cheapest. You don't mention check engine light (that would give codes), so I'll go with the same issue we've had with newer Blazers. That would be the ECM in the distributor. When ours started going bad, it would cut-off intermittently. Well one day the intermittent was terminal. Anew ECM, for the 2.8 V6 (1987) is approx 45.00. You would have to price it for your vehicle based on year and engine size. The worst case scenario is loss of timing gear. (That happened on our 67 Buick with 300 V8). Another thought is what happened to a friend. He's putzing on down the highway when his 88 Pontiac Grand Am simply quit. His computer had bit the big one. Those are the only things that come to mind, other than running out of gas or your alternator had quit charging your battery and the battery finally lost enough power to spark the plugs.

My 2003 Chevy Malibu suddenly lost power climbing a hill. The engine light started flashing. I was able to drive it home at 30 mph.

Could either be the ignition system - ie, coil packs, fuel filter, fuel pump, or bad gas. Was it sputtering?

Gas in the oil and in the exhaust

spider type fuel delivery inside upper intake known to leak , and with repeated attempts to start , fuel gets into wherever gravity will allow , be sure to drain fuel soaked oil before attempt to start after repair and because fuel is in the exhaust , it might blow the muffler and melt the catalytic converter
