94 geo tracker with brake light on

I had purchased my 94 Tracker used over a year ago. Upon purchase, the brake light was stuck on. When I had brought my 94 Geo Tracker 4WD to my mechanic, he had mentioned that there was a part that controls the anti-lock brake system, which was stuck on. I was told that it did not pose a problem with the brakes, only the anti-lock system would not work. I am curious what this part is and would it be an expensive repair?

I had the same problem. Brake light stuck on and the coil fuse would blow after running for a short time. Found the wires coming off the break light switch were melted together and shorted out. Still working on problem. Trying to bypass shorted wires. Norm in Ohio

THERE IS A SWITCH UNDERNEATH THE STEERING COLUMN THAT WILL CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. I BOUGHT MY 1994 GEO TRACKER 4X4 BRAND NEW. IT TOOK ME SEVERAL SERVICE APPOINTMENTS FROM MY DEALER BEFORE I GOT THIS INFORMATION FROM MY MECHANIC.

My 1995 Geo Tracker stuck in park

Try replacing your brake light switch that is located at the top of the brake pedal arm. It might work if you wiggle or shake the switch but most likely you will have to replace the switch. good luck leave comment.
