Thunderbird May 1994 T-Bird runs good but it runs at a high idle .As I drive the car the RPM gauge will go high or drop completely and then pick back up. I have checked all the vaccum lines and wasn't sure what else to check.

IAC valvle located on top of throttle body. Before replacing get the calibration code off the sticker on the door jamb, or else Ford will sell you the wrong one and maybe the parts store. Ive run into that with mine because it cause mine to idle high at red light and car didint want to brake proeprly, kept pulling.

Also clean out passage way with some strong carb/brake cleaner to remove any debris or trapped sludge that gets sucked back into system by vacuum hose from valve cover.

Why does the voltage drop to battry volts when i put the gear lever in drive?

the voltage should remain at 14.5 volts at all engine speeds above idle 13.9 volts at idle indicates that the alternator is charging but not at set voltage
head lights are the biggest drain that affects charge rate rate and it it maintains and from you description that is not a problem
when you select a gear it indicates a heavy drain which is a high resistance or a dead short in that circuit that is taking out more power than the alternator is charging
There there is nothing in the gear selection that draws such power
the other thing is that when selection a gear the engine rpm is tool low and the alternator stops charging
for auto vehicles , the idle rpm should be at 800-900 rpm dropping to 750-800 in drive

95 thunderbird backfiring through air intake

Something like this is often a stuck or poorly sealing valve. A Vacuum gauge is the least obtrusive way to notice vacuum changes. If a cylinder fails to seal, vacuum will reflect the loss of compression and it will result in a bounce on the meter.

Car drops out at 2700 rpm and sputters

There is a rev limiter in these cars that disallows over revving in park or neutral. Does it climb past 2700 under hard acceleration?

1995 Ford Thunderbird Temp Gauge goes up when idling

Try to bleed the system. Also keep an eye on the coolant level. If it drops and you see no leaks the you could have a blown head gasket. Also replace the thermostat and hoses.
