2006 Dodge Stratus SXT Sedan - Cruise control functioned normally for the first year of ownership. Cruise control still works normally *except* that presently, pressing cancel now turns the speed control off altogether instead of just disengaging it/putting it in standby. This is a consistent condition now but it intermittently works properly (cancel disengages but cruise LED indicator persists). 99% of the time now, the cancel button turns off the vehicle's speed control & guage cluster light.

I would take it into the dealer and have them check it out, but it sounds like a defective cruise control transducer, that is the part that actually holds the speed.

sound like it could be fuel. pump or timeing belt. if you put a new fuel filter in be sure to replace the fuel filter

found the brake petel switch sticky and tapping the pettel a couple of times allowed the cruis light to stay lighted and it worked on mu 2006 freestar.

One thing to check is the micro switch on the brake pedal arm, I had the same problem.
For some reason the switch came loose and it wasn't being depressed.
All I had to do is re adjust it so it would depress the plunger on the switch when the brake was not applied and activate the switch when the brake pedal was depressed.
I set it to the sensitive side so when you barley tap the brake pedal it shuts off the cruise control.

P0582 is the Chrysler Diagnostic Trouble Code (Error Code) for:

Speed control vacuum or vent solenoid circuits open or shorted

If you do not have cruise control on your vehicle, you can ignore this code. If you do, you've probably noticed it is no longer working or only works intermittently. The code is saying it's an electrical problem to the servo.
