My 2007 Prius generates a ploop ploop sound on the driver side of the car as it travels above 10 MPH. The sound increases as the speed increase. The tire is not flat. Any ideas? Can I drive it to the dealer for a checkup (about 6 miles)?

Noises are decieving. Cud be steering system or wheels or suspension. If ball joint fails car cud flip ovr.hav pro testdrive it. Seek a gudguy at surecritic.com

I have seen this problem before and the cause could be TCC Staying in Lock-up or an Electrical Issue within the Engine itself or a Fuel Delivery Issue.

If the Transmission TCC is the issue, try driving at slower speeds (below 30 and come to a stop, does it Shut off then? Increase Speed by 10 and try again. Does it react differently once you go above 42-45 MPH?

your wheels more than likely needs to be balanced one or more are out of round if you had the tires rotated before the alignment this would make the vibrating more noticible.but balancing should solve your problem.

sounds like a cv joint to me. That is what usually occurs when one is showing wear. C.V joints usually wear out between 80,000 and 120,000 k.m.

If the rpms are going up and your speed is not increasing your transmisson is slipping.

This problem is most associated to the vehicle speed sensor. Have it checked...

I would check the throttle position sensor

have your wheel bearings checked ,, does it go away when u take a turn ?
