How much transmission fluid does it take when changing the transmisssion screen and filter?

When the pan is dropped and fluid is drained, to refill, it usually needs 5 - 6 quarts. When refilling, check the transmission fluid dipstick as you are adding the last two quarts. And also run the transmission thru the gears.

Replace a filter and gasket or drain and refill

you should always change the filter when changing the transmission fluid, and a gasket is a good idea too.

Stumble driveing in high gear

First, check your transmission fluid. If it is low, you should fill it immediately. If it is full, but brown in color, it should be changed. A likely cause of the problem is a clogged filter. If you have not had the trans. filter changed on 60,000 or more miles, do so. It is a good idea to have the fluid flushed and refilled at this point as well. You may want to consider refilling with a synthetic fluid. This will tend to increase transmission lifespan. Just make sure the fluid is compatible with your vehicle. Mercon V is a good bet for this. Finally, there is a product called Lucas Transmission Fix. I use this in everything. I recommend using a bottle when refilling the transmission, no matter what kind of fluid you use. Put the Lucas in after 2-3 qts of transmission fluid, so as not to clog the pump at startup.

Does a mazda 323f 2001 model need gearbox oil change after some milage or is it a sealed unit?

Automatic and standard transmission needs fluid change every 24 months. On automatic transmissions, the gasket needs to be changed as well as the filter. On standard transmission there is a drain plug that can be loosened up, and refilled through the refill hole. Standard transmission use gear oil, while automatic transmission uses automatic transmission fluid.
