My Navigation system display just quit working on my 2007 X5. It worked fine, I shut the car off and re started it and nothing is showing on the display. The BMW Logo displays for a few seconds and then nothing. All the fuses are good as well. Its almost like it has been set to a dimmer function. What do I do?

what type of disc did you buy.you need to buy buy GM navigation disc.you can go on you tube.it will show you how to fix.reprogram gps.

Problem with Navigation system - Discussion on Topix

A lot of these vehicles will stop the car when the system senses a major fault, get it checked out.

need let dealership check it out.nothing much you can do with a navigation system since complex system dealership has to check it out.

Does radio show "CODE" in the display?
Call dealer or look in your owners manual.
4 digit code will get it back.
Always save the "memory" in the systems when changing the battery.
Use an external 12 V. source to keep computer,clock and radio
memory.
Losing memory may cause the engine to NOT idle and run poorly as well.
A 9 V. battery in the cigarette lighter is one way.

Did you manage to solve your problem? I have a X5 with the same engine that cranks but doesn't start. Only occurs when car as been up to temp & then left until temp gauge shows approx 1/4. 5-10 minutes later starts fine???

SITUATION
When entering into the navigation system, the screen only displays "Please insert DVD", even though a DVD map is inserted in the drive.

CAUSE

Incorrect map DVD

CCC software or hardware error

PROCEDURE
On a customer complaint basis proceed as follows:

Always verify that the correct map DVD is used (identified by DVD-CCC). Try a known good map DVD and see if the problem is resolved.

Update the complete vehicle per SI B09 05 01 (Programming and Coding with Progman) Procedure B, using Progman 25.00.00 or higher.

If the fault is still present, replace the DVD drive. Refer to Repair Instructions RA 65 83 580

Chek out the article. I wrote it for people in this exact situation.

I would demand the system be replace, The system goes for over 1500.00 dollars and No one outside of ford can fix it because there is no parts available. I would call ford customer service hot line to file a complaint against the dealer. You are not getting the customer satisfaction you deserve.
The dealer is going to keep putting it off and when the warranty runs out then they will magically know what to replace.
Stay active on Ford to replace the unit.
