You need to pull the codes, however, check engine is generally emissions system. Which in general terms means you may need a new 02 sensor..but check engine light can be any of numerous sensors, map, mad, ecg, iac, 02 etc. I would check n change the oxy sensor with that many miles..cheers.
Should be take it by auto zone have them check for codes . It is free in most states.

Replaced COIL pack!!!!!!!!!
Returned to Advance auto to clear codes---
NO CHECK engine light --runs like new
Believe the COIL pack went bad causing the sensor to clog and go bad--Probably could have just cleaned it.
Cost $200 parts and free labor>LOTS of bad words,gerasy hands and good running car

get a new coolant temperature sensor.
the orginal black ones are faulty.
make sure it is the green topped one.
also do a normal tune up with spark plugs, clean the maf, maybe replace coils packs.

Hi,first thing your cambelt and tensioner should have been replaced 13k miles ago,it would pay you to replace the water pump at the same time as they are known for impellor failure = cooling system fault=P2181 code,hope this helps.
