Standard type that conforms to specification J1704 or superior
You should be able to use any brand, any kind.Most brake fluids are made to standards ok for all cars. Some expensive cars might take a special fluid, race cars do. I use walmart special, never noticed a difference. Hope this helps.

I just replaced mine and had the same problem. If you look at the new one, you should find a small hole at the base of the metal tube. Using a mirror, I located the same hole in the one in the valve cover and inserted a pointed awl into it and was able to pry it out. Do it slowly since you are prying against plastic. When inserting the new one, I found that it should not be inserted as far the original one was and has a gentle snap.
