I recently took my Toyota Camry into the shop to have them replace a oil pump cover gasket and now that it is put back together it runs really rough while idling only (it will rev up and then almost stall) they thought maybe the timing might be off but after messing with it they think it is dead on is there anything else that i should double check or does it sound like it could be a timing problem?

It actually sounds like a vacuum or intake leak or the map sensor start the car and unplug the map sensor wire set. motor should have steady idle after that. if not then start checking and unpluging the idle air control valve or the throttle position sensor the only sensro the car will not run with unplugged is the mass air flow sensor

My 1990 camry has oil in the spark plug tubes. Everything seems sealed. Got any ideas? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If my memory serves me right, your plugs go down through the valve cover. There is a gasket around the spark plug holes that needs to be replaced. That is where your oil is coming from. Replace the outer gasket around the edge of the cover while you are at it. Hope this helps.

they probably didn't put any oil in it after the gaskets were replaced and that caused the problem.if the car was running fine prior to you having it fixed and there was no noise coming from the engine, then that would be my best assumption to your problem.hope this info helps and good luck.take care , manny

Brake rotors and pads recently replaced. Seem to

You could stop the noisy brake problem by applying special adhesive to the back of the brake pads. They are available at the autoparts stores. If you buy high quality brake pads, you would see the anti-noise shims included in the package.

As for the oil dripping issue: have the required quantity of oil in the crankcase-3.2 quarts to start when you change engine oil. Inspect the oil-pan gasket, drain-plug, oil-pump seal

Need to know what parts should be replaced when changing the timming belt on a 2001 toyota camery 4cyl

Hi. Since you took the chance of opening the engine to replace the timing belt, you might replace the seals and gaskets for the head, cover, and crankcase, including the valve seals. in this way you will add brand new seals, minimizing or eliminating any leak problems. Also, try to use shur-tak spray. This one hold the gaskets in place while putting the engine back together and adds a protective layer to them as well. Ask for it at any parts store.
