Pull the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s), if any, from the on-board computer and let that be your guide on where to begin. If you aren't familiar with that process, go to Autozone, where they will pull the code(s) for you for free. Other parts houses may do it for free or a nominal fee. The code will provide your starting point. Your diagnosis to date appears doubtful as the true cause of your issues.

Look for a leak in the hoses between the PCV valve in the crankcase and the intake on the motor. A vacuum leak of this type can cause a jerkiness (runs rough) and will make the transmission seem to be malfunctioning because the motor is trying to correct for incorrect air-fuel ratio. Check to see if there are soft squishy or very oily spots on those hoses (would indicate a hole at that position).

The crank sensor is for engine cylinder recognition or position.

Go back to your studying

You never replace any part or sensor based on a code or a guess.

You need to be familar with the system your working on, and test first, then replace, if you have the knowledge to do so.

You need to separate Trans Issues from Drivability Issues.

Will a bad transmission range sensor make my 1992 Nissan maxima jerk and hesitate about changing gears

That is possible but it should set some kind of a fault code, have it tested by a local transmission repair shop, in most cases they will do this for free in the hope of getting the repair business.

Check engine light on when i step on gas hard truck jerks

engine lights refer to the engine AND the transmission faults. I would think that when you got the light there was a problem in the transmission ( probably the transmission control module TCM) and by stomping the gas you have a shift change problem causing the jerking.

My 05 nissan maxima jerk when shift on reverse

Check your ignition coils. I have an 04 maxima, and it shift very hard into reverse. Code p0174 is my problem. That’s the no. 1 cylinder being faulty (ignition coil no. 1). I’m changing my ignition coils in the next 2 days.

My 2004 maxima goes into 5th gear when put into drive. the code it read was 0340 crankshaft sensor. before i changed it the problem was intermitint now the problem exists all the time what else can i do...

The crankshaft sensor has to do with the engine and not the transmission. It sounds like the transmission has a problem unrelated to the engine rpm or movement measurement (through the crankshaft sensor).

I would have the transmission checked out for solenoids or fluid level being off or have that portion repaired before changing any camshaft sensors.

Camshaft sensor malfunctions would show up as an engine code if it were not reading valid signals.

Good luck on this repair.

My truck dies in reverse.

It sounds to me like you have an internal vacuum leak in your transmission.

Speed sensor location on a Nissan Maxima 2000 gxe

There are two speed sensors one is called a revolution sensor that is located on the case of the transmission. You can take the driver side wheel off and see the sensor on the top of the case of the transmission. A 10mm bolt is holding it in. Easy fix

I have 1998 Maxima, won't crank or start. Battery was replaced. Where is starter located or any other option?

Check crank sensors first. There are two sensors 1 is by the crankshaft pully (by the drive belts) the other is between the engine and transmission it reads from the flywheel . Good luck.

2004 maxima - transmission stuck w/engine shut off

It sounds like a tork conveter lockup switch, have the transmisson serviced oil and filter changed then and add Lucas transmisson treatment to help smooth out hte shifting pattern and stop the problem if there was drag on the clutches it may have stalled out.
