Delay in radio turning on and lights turning off

I've noticed a delay between when the engine turns over and when the radio comes on. There is also a delay between when I lock and shut the door and the interior lights go off. Is this a lurking electrical problem?

Sounds perfectly normal.. when you turn the engine over all power is diverted to the fuel , ignition and starter .. once the engine is running everything else powers back up... The interior light is designed to be that way , some have a adjustment as for how long you want them to stay on .

My key is stuck in the ignition.

Your car has several different ignition positions. They each offer slightly different functionality.
Off: In this position, the engine is off, and so are your electronic accessories (unless the delay has not expired yet). You can still turn on lights (headlights, interior lights, etc.).
ACC: This is the accessory position. Turn the key to ACC if you want to listen to the radio, play a CD or use other accessories without cranking the engine.
On: In this position, all of the electronics should come on. This is also the position that the key will return to after cranking the engine.
Start: Turn the key to this position to crank the engine. Let go of the key when the engine is running and the key will return to the on position.

I use to own a car that had an ignition that was ACC - OFF - ON - START.

Try turning your ignition one position clockwise and see if the radio turns off and the key comes out.

07 Chevy Cobalt: Radio back-lighting never turns off.

Newer cars come with a switches that delays their shut down of certain lights on the car. Sometime they allow you to get inside your home before the turn off but sometimes the switches malfunction and you light never turns off. I have had this happen on my 2006 vehicle several times in the past. Maybe these kind of switches one day will get a little better. Until then, you can ignore it or pay the big bucks and have a technitian repair it..

I have a 95 jeep and it has trouble cranking. It takes a long time for fuel pump to start . Have changed fuel pump

Sounds to me like your jeep has what's known as the delayed start check engine light problem. Check to see if your check engine light comes on, when you turn on the ignition, at the times when the fuel pump is 'delayed'. If no check engine light comes on then your ecu needs to be repaired or replaced. Both options are available on ebay. The jeep will not start until that check engine light finally coming on.

My radio turns off the volume when i turn on engine

Hi there?
When the engine turns over it drains a lot of the power from the battery which your radio reduces the volume. what's happening with your radio, it's probably fine. I don't konw if you have noticed, but when you have the lights on and you turn the engine over, the lights go deam, cause of the power drain from the battery.

If the key is good and the ignition module is good there might be some short in the electrical system. Check fuses and check the main + connection to fusebox.

Check engine light

there are hundreds of reasons the check engine light comes on, when the light comes on a code or codes are set in the memory of the on board computer, here is what u do, go to any Kragen or Autozone parts store and then ask for a trouble code test, it is a free service. the radio can be the door switch, the car has a feature called delayed exit.
