I have a stock '02 RSX-S with 93K miles.I recently started hearing a ticking sound coming from the engine while accelerating at low rpm's in any gear (i can hear it at higher rpm's too, but at that point the engine rev starts to cover the noise up). With the windows closed it sounds like it's coming from the center of the engine. It's much more noticeable with the windows open driving next to something (and it's much more noticeable with the passenger side window down than the drive side). Some more hints: -can't hear it while cruising at low speed at low rpm, but as soon as i hit the gas i hear it "tck-tck-tck" -noise dissappears as soon as i let up on the accelerator. I just watched someone put his problem on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndMBFEAQm... the noise are so similar. I just tried to put the the car on neutal, turn off the ac and light, then turn it on. The noise was hard to hear when off, but get louder as soon as I turn them on. Same noise as I hit the gas in gear at the low rpm's I mentioned...Could that be the A/C compressor's bearing? or I need to clean fuel injectors and do a valves adjustment, I heard Honda has the issues... Thanks !!!

Sounds like a loose belt, dirty fuel injectors or fault in ac compressor fan.Clean the radiator fan.Check the engine belt first. If its very old and looks worn out, then replace that belt.Other thing check the fan the radiator fan when its spinning .If its not spinning freely then its the problem. The fan bearing needs to be checked. Other thing to check is the dirty injectors.remove and clean the injectors and refit it and then check. Also the other possibilities to be checked in this case are:--- clicking or ticking sound when accelerating the gas pedal:---- The clicking is being caused by a bad exhaust-manifold gasket, which allows exhaust to escape its normal route from exhaust manifold to pipe to muffler. And in escaping that route, the leak makes noise as often as the piston nearest the leak purges exhaust from the cylinder in which it is operating. Hence a clicking noise that increases in frequency with an increase in RPMs. In some cases noise decreases when RPM rises. Check for loose sparks plugs also, lifters, fuel injectors, fan hitting shroud, water pump, belt tensioner.
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

RSX engine bay rattle at lower rpm ( same noise as mine when accelerating)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rmm7mLJQ4...

It seems as if the noise is coming from the upper passenger side of the engine and is really just annoying/frustrating me. I figure if it is a valve noise that the noise would continue throughout the rpm band, the same if the timing chain tensioner was lose. I have found that the noise is most intense if I put the car a gear like 3rd at a low speed and accelerate and when in 1st gear accelerating slow or fast from a stop.

96 escort 1.9 manual jerking while accelerating 96 escort 1.9 manual

best advice is dont go 40mph in 5th gear... if you are going up a hill at 40mph in 5th gear i have no doubt that it is jerking, your putting too much stress on the engine. shift up to 4th or 3rd you will be fine. 5th gear is an overdrive gear. 55+mph

Sounds like an Exhaust Manifold leak on only one cylinder. The Gasket is probably blown out. Check around where manifold is bolted to the engine. Any leaks are usually evident by a black sooty deposit.

Tranny slipping?

Dose it make a normal sound when you start the engine, then more then likely fly wheel ok, anf it's going to be the transmission, if not normal it's the fly wheel.

I'm trying to guage whether my engine is dying

Was the the issue there before the new timing belt. It may be off a couple teeth. Do you have the correct type sparks plugs and the correct 02 sensors or some universal, splice in ones. When warmed up it goes into closed loop and the 02 sensors take over part of the fuel stratagy.

I just bought a 2008 Sienna w/ 44,000 miles. When the engine is cold, doesn't have to be really cold, I hear this ticking noise (not loud) when engine is under slight acceleration between 1500- 2000 rpm....

Sounds like you are describing lifter noise. Go to the car store and buy a pint of Berrymen's Chemtool. Next time the engine is cold, pour the Chemtool into the engine oil. Do your normal driving for the next few days or weeks until you have 150-200 miles (none of them should be highway miles) on the engine, then have the oil changed. Drive for 2000-3000 miles, and do the same thing all over again. Repeat this a couple of times. If the lifter loosens up, your good to go. If it doesn't, then it will have to be repaired by tearing into the engine.
