Normaly that would be true, except our vans have an extra oil resivewar (sorry i cant spell) under the hood, its on the passenger side of mine(battery and air filter on driver side). What it does is dump more oil into your pan if level gets old. also cycles oil from pan to res back to pan, lessens oil change visits.
Hi there,
The only place for engine oil under the bonnet....is in the engine itself.
The other two containers that take a form of oil, will be:
1) Power steering
2) Brake fluid
Never put engine oil in these two.
Cheers,

There is a 2 litre container marked engine oil under the bonnet.
This reservoir of oil is fed into the engine if the oil level falls in the engine. It does not recirculate!!!
They did this so lazy people wouldn't ruin a good Toyota Motor by failing to lift the seat, peel back the carpet, lift a lid and check the dipstick!
Same reason they put platinum spark plugs in the motor; you have to undo 15 fasteners and have a long extension to remove them, so they put in plugs that last 100,000 kilometres.
