Door ajar light is on when all doors are shut, fuel guage reads empty and dummy light is on saying get gas, all lights in the rear do not work i.e. brake, running, reverse, blinker, hazards. 15 amp fuse in panel continues to blow, so something is grounded/shorted. All problems occurred simultaneously. also, car won't shift out of park when started, have to start in neutral and then shift into gear to drive it.

If the door ajar light is on, it could be bad door switch
If the vehicle doesn't start in park, you could have a bad park/netural safety switch.
If none of the back lights work, and fuse keeps blowing, there is a short somewhere. Possibly in the switch. Try one size bigger fuse but no bigger than that.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to have your cars computer's code scanned which many part stores will do for free to see if there are any codes/errors that pop up.

Your stop light switch is broken and shorting out hence it will not start in park ,or you have a fitted the wrong bulb in one of the back lights like a twin connector bulb in place of a single or visa versa ,which is blowing the stop light fuse ,with this fuse blown your stop light switch isnt working hence you cannot get it out of park .also flasher could be using the same fuse as the stop lights .side lights should work but if wiring is being shorted out then anything is possible

Where is the location of the battery saver relay on 2004 Ford Ranger Edge 3.0L V6

Principles of Operation
Interior Lighting The interior lighting is broken down into two groups: the courtesy lamps and the illuminated entry lamps. Both lighting features interact with the courtesy light arbitrator. The battery saver is also listed in this section.
Courtesy Lighting The courtesy lamps consist of the dome lamp and/or map lights. The courtesy lamps can be activated by the GEM using the panel dimmer switch, or by any ajar door. The courtesy lamps will shut off when the doors are closed and the illuminated entry feature is not active, or when the vehicle speed is greater than 8 kph (5 mph). The interior lamps will not be reactivated until the vehicle speed is less than 5 kph (3 mph) and a new door open warning lamp switch signal is received. The inputs are:
  • ignition switch position
  • driver door ajar switch
  • front passenger door ajar switch
  • rear left door ajar switch
  • rear right door ajar switch
  • vehicle speed switch (VSS)
The outputs are:
  • battery saver relay
  • interior lamp relay

I have the same problem with my left rear door (it also sets off the alarm at times when parked). I take some wd40 and spray it into the inside lock slide and move it back and forth a few times. that seems to fix it.

Engine light on, gas gauge stuck on empty but has full tank gas light on, doors ajar light on, rear brake lights and signals not working passenger doors wont unloock, I disconnected the battery waited a...

possibly had a bad connection at battery if you had corrosion or loose terminals it would cause low voltage to car electrical system, if everything is working now then you eliminated problem when you reconnected battery

2001 Volvo V70-T5 fuel guage malfunction

I had a similar issue and started to notice other electrical failures along with the gas gauge. My rear doors would not lock and my rear wiper stopped working. I started pulling fuses and relays to see if this would reset, no go. But then I hit the jackjpot. In the rear electrical panel, below all the fuses and relays is a 2" x 2" black plastic square with a big screw in it.

Remove the screw and pull evenly on the black square. This seems to be a major electrical hub for the car. I reconnected and all 3 of my issues disappeared...I read somewhere that a fix might be to disconnect the battery for a few minutes, which I guess re-sets some relays and circuits, but I guess this did the same thing. Good luck.

My 1999 Oldsmobile Alero Gas gauge and fuel system

well # 1 the full gauge when empty is a sign that your fuel pump is bad and that needs to be replaced the part about spitting the gas back out is probrobly a clog between the fuel door and the tank itself or their might be a vapor lock door that might be stuck shut so fuel cant get in im not 100%sure about that but im 100%sure that the fuel guage is the fuel pump being dead.
