The fan clutch comes off counter clockwise, if your at home and stuck working on your truck, I have found that with a long chisel and a hammer you can remove the fan clutch, do not remove the belt that will hold the water pump pulley, set the chisel on the left edge of the nut of the fan clutch hit with the hammer as to loosen will make a dent on the nut but will not damage anything, you might have to hit it some what hard to get it to release don't give up it will come off, we do it here at my repair shop all the time that we saw no need to buy the tool.
Once you unscrew the fan clutch from the water pump shaft, remove the bolt's from fan clutch and install fan on new fan clutch, just screw fan clutch back on water pump shaft all the way start engine and it will self adjust.
I found it to be the easiest and safest way without buying the tool is to feed a rebar wire (get it at Home Depot for $3 a spool) through one of the four little holes on the water pump pulley. Wrap it around the frame which holds the alternator. Pull it somewhat tight while twisting the wires together at least 5 times to prevent slipping out from each other. Double or triple up the wire for strength. Make sure to tie it to something solid like a frame and not to a part that will break when heavy tension is applied to the wires. Now all you need is turn the wrench counterclockwise on the large nut and you'll be home free. Leave the wires in to reinstall the fan. When putting back the nut, it is best to give it a quick tap on the wrench with a hammer or anything to tighten the nut back. You don't need to apply too much torque to the nut.

Have to remove the fan blades, 4 bolts 7/16" or 10 mm, remove one of them and install a stud into the bolt hole, do this same proceedure to the next bolt and walla, you just made the job so much easier on yourself to slide the fan and clutch fan assembly on and off the vehicle.
Happy Motoring!!!
