Do you know how check the engine codes? Turn the key 3 times and the codes will be displayed where the odometer number is displayed.
If the code is 302 it is spark plug mis fire.
It could be a bad fuel injector.

Have a 2006 PT Crusier that rough idle, and check engine light is on with code for #3 cylinder misfire. Replaced spark plugs and wires. Still have engine light on for #3 cylinder misfire. Seems to be fine...

I would start by having your codes cleared. If a fouled plug was the culprit, the pcm may not have reconized that it was fixed.

Try running a bottle of sea foam through it. You could have a sticking fuel injector.

As a last resort , have a compression test done. A crack in the clyinder head could also cause this issue.

I hope this gets you started :)

Engine light on

They are still looking for a cause because it isnt misfiring right now or because they cant find the cause of the stored misfire codes ?
If it is misfiring right now and they cant figure it out then perhaps you should find new mechanics !
I have seen a lot of bad coils on the PT.
Misfire is usually caused by spark plug wires first, spark plugs 2nd, and coil third.
If it isnt misfiring now, spray down the wires with water. If it misfires after that replace the spark plug wires and spark plugs and try again.
If it still misfires then the problem will likely be the coil.

2005 pt cruiser... it sputters and won't idle well

That is the first thing i would suggest you do. Replace all the spark plugs and the plug wires. Those 2 things are the most commen thing that cause misfires.

Have a 03 pt cruiser with a trouble code P0302, stubbles bad and smells rich.

The P0302 Code points to a misfire detected on the # 2 cylinder. If its stumbling, I would first suspect the plug or wire is bad. I believe the ignition coil on that vehicle is a single coil pack with four terminals, so if only the P0302 code is coming up I would start with the plug and wire. May be time to do a tune up and just replace all the splugs and spark plug wires.
