2001 Dodge Grand Caravan ~ Door ajar light and chime flicker intermittently although all doors have been closed tightly. Can I just disconnect the chime or do I have to pay someone to find and fix the problem. There is a recall on the "sliding door key cylilnder-to-bell crank links" Could this be the culprit?
Depending on what door it is check the switch in the a post of the b post if its back doors. also known as the light switch, remove switch and clean the switch switch cleaner or well known brand wforty, or leave switch on remove the rubber seal and spray in the switch as you push it in do this a few times and flick the switch a few times.

one of the door switches is bad or loose any reputable shop should be able to diagnose which one

could be a partially broken wire in the wiring harness that runs in the door track. the wires are inside what looks like a plastic chain that allows it to move with the door and have seen them partially break not allowing power to flow the whole time

You may have already checked this but there is a switch located close to the overhead button that will disengage the door buttons for child safety, is that turned off?

I have seen this problem on the sliding door of caravans. Look for the contacts on the door jamb when the door is open. Take some light sand paper and remove the oxidation on both contact points. Also at times the door gets out of adjustment so it won't close tight enough to turn off the warning. With the door shut check the contour along the body line. If the back side of the door is sticking out a little it may need to be adjusted. That can be very tricky, it might be advisable to ask a body shop to adjust it for you.
Hope this helps.
