The onboard computer requires specialized diagnostic equipment to first read the vehicle identification number stored prior to re-flashing the new program. If the computer is new, the request data command also unlocks the computer to allow the re-flashing of data.
There are a few GM dealers that have "off-board" programming equipment that can re-flash the Power Train Control Module (PCM) at the parts counter, however most will require the vehicle and PCM.
I would recommend having it done at the dealer so you get the most recent software. Usually a 1 hour labor charge, get an estimate prior to having them do the work.

When i try to start my 1999 sunfire it do nothing how do i reset the anti theft sys because before this happen i heard a sound like a alarm afther that it wont say nothing

The system is temporarily resetable, but since this problem occured i can promise you it will only get worse. Check out this website. It explains the problem and offers some DO IT YOURSELF solutions.

I have a 99 ponti sunfire 187k miles 5 speed

Sounds like either an evap system leak, maybe intake gasket. While it is running spray water around the intake, if it starts to cut out..you have a leak. If that doesnt do it, I would check the mass air flow sensor, and throttle postion sensor. Hope this helps.

the easy way is remove the radio from the dash leave plugged in remove the anttenna wire from the radio stick a small screwdriver in the anttenna socket and see if the recpetion is better you may have to hold the screwdriver with your hand to be a better antenna if so thier is something wrong with your antenna coax or antenna if not doesnt help then the radio is bad internally

depends on the module yes you can but make sure that you don,t activate the module before the job is done DISONNECT THE BATTERY
