I am trying to change out the passenger side door handle of a 1999 Buick Park Avenue. Any hints? The inside nuts a buried behind sheet metal. Have thought of cutting away to gain access.

Kelley roll up you sleeves and take the door panel off the car. Don't worry you can do it. Now look inside the door with the window rolled all the way up and see if the metal rods are attached to the handles. Also see if anything is broken that the rods connect too. If every thing looks OK then make sure the latch is actually unlocked if it is unlocked and every thing looks good the replace the DOOR LATCH. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Kelley.

sounds like the connector rod inside door came off- buy a HAYES auto repair manual for you car- is easy repair- reconnect rod- they do vibrate out sometimes

The door panel just snaps on except for the door arm rest, it has two screws on the bottom . Take out the screws and the panel should come off, the arm rest will stay on the door.

The fuse box is located on the inside of the car passenger side. You have to open the door and it is behind the panel on the side of the dashboard. Look under the motor and it will be under the black square box cover.

These are a pain to do so you will need to remove the small trim peice behind the inside door handle to get to a small screw holding the door trim on. Next retaining clips hold on the sides and bottom door trim. Some screws may be on the bottom too on some models. using an old tablr fork helps out by removing the center fork prongs which will be used as a pry bar to pry up on these clips. Once removed you can gain access to the switch. Some models will let you pry out the switch panel instead of removing the whole door trim. If the switch is mounted in a panel that is separate from the door trim it will come out that way separately

there should be a door under the hood on the firewall on passenger side in which the filter is behind.

If you're lucky, on the inside of the door, will be a triangular panel right behind the mirror that you can pop off. If you're not as lucky and it's one piece or the panel is blocked by the door panel, you'll need to remove the door panel to change it.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws (these screws may be covered by filler pieces or may be visible, or they may require you pry a plastic piece off that covers the screws) that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can remove the bolts holding the mirror onto the door

Order the exterior door handle AND the clip that attaches the rod to the exterior handle from your local dealership ( any part in the salvage yard will have at least as much wear as the one U are replacing ) Also order a can of touch up paint matching your car. After you have the parts and have painted the new exterior handle, roll down the window and remove the interior door panel. ( instructions have been posted at 'replace door lock buttom' ) Two nuts, one on each side, hold the broken handle in place and must be removed ( DON'T loose them ). Loosen the rod from the clip at the top to allow a bit more room, But take note on the way it is attached ( you will need to reattach the rod to new handle ) To install new mechanism put the new clip on the rod, carefully place the gasket and the new handle in place and install nuts to secure. Test the door handle and make sure it works. Reinstall interior door panel.

are out side door handles when you push on them do they work or do they feel like nothing there very common does it have rust around handles or are they seized?
