This noise is caused by the belt tensioner pulley - solution is to replace the assembly. If the noise is only present when the engine is cold, it could be the exhaust manifold.

1983 f150 with 351 windsor. Recent problem of bogging down when climbing moderate hills. Also sounds of ticking noise, lifters or manifolds leak? Any help much appreciated.

A leaking exhaust manifold could make a ticking noise. So could a lifter or valve. The exhaust noise would be louder under load.
If the carb is running too lean, or you have a vac leak, the lean fuel mixture could make the exhaust leak worse, and cause the loss of power.

I have a 2008 gmc acadia I recently stopped at a stop sign and notcied the engine was aming a very loid ticking sound. I checked the oil whihc was full I have no check engine light on and the motor is...

Hi, viewer. It is possible what you heard is the purge solenoid in action. When the engine is running, you'll get to hear this continuous ticking noise from time to time, part of normal operation. Its only wise of you to check the oil and indicators on IPC ,and feel the engine performance Just to rule out some doubts. Keep it up. As to the noise, if you feel the ticking noise is quite annoying and seem not to fade away for a certain engine period, as if its always ticking all the time, just bring it to your trusted shop for verifications. Drive safely, and goodluck! : )

A loud ticking noise?

No I would not chase to the pistons, these vehicle were very comon in creating HLA noise hydraulic lash adjusting valves, meaning the valves pump up with oil as the oil gets thinner they dont pump up as fast and create a very loud ticking noise, I would not express a great concern over simplicity, dodge was famous for this, they really were.

Ticking noise coming from engine

Ok, i find it very hard to believe that this car came from the factory with an unset valve assembly and, i don't believe that it would have been delivered to the dealership with some bad injectors. I agree. this car smells like lemon pie and i would seriously think about practicing your states lemon laws. This car was dead on arrival unfortunately. there is nothing normal about a ticking sound coming form under the hood of a new car. I work on Lexus's and I've never herd any kind of ticking that was considered to be normal. Your intuitions are correct. i would return this vehicle immediately. I must say, if the ticking sound is very low range and is coming from the injector areas, this is normal but, if its very noticeable, its not.

Please rate and god bless.

Ticking noise from engine

You might have a bad hydraulic valve lifter (assuming this engine has them)... you could try an aftermarket product designed to unstick valve lifters.... any auto parts store carries them.

1992 side kick

problem here is a ticking to one is a knock or a tap or a thud ect to others so of my experiance with engines if its a ticking that gets louder with the engine getting warmer its got to be the tappets its the only thing that would get louder if it gets louder when accelerating it could be ignition timming causes pinking most other things on engines that cause ticking sounds could be something catching fuel pumps cause a ticking noise but are not normally affected by engine temp yates210456
