Need to know how to change head lights on 2005 cadllac sts

There is the dealer which i believe is around $200.00 and there is the DIY which will cause you to have many bad words to be used.
On a scale of 1-10 (10=engine rebuild), I would score it a 1.5. Here is a general approach, not intended as a detailed procedure.
1. Remove front wheel well front half splash guard, each side. There are about 2 screws and the guard pulls forward to seperate from the rear half. 2. After removing the splash guard, you can access one screw that attaches the front fascia, each side. 3. Then about 6 plastic push pin type screws along the bottom, underneath. 4. About 5 push pin type screws on the top. 5. Fascia should then simply pull forward. It is a bit bulky and an extra pair of hands is helpful. 6. Then there are 3 screws to remove the headlamp assembly. Unclip the wiring harness. 7. Then 4 screws to remove the bulb access cover plate. Bulbs are 9005 for high beam and H11 for low beam. Replace the little bulb.....I think it might be H3.
Here is another way:
For the fogs, need to remove front wheels and then remove the plastic wheel well liner (plastic push pins hold it in place).
For the small bulbs in the inside corner of the headlight housing: Open hood. Remove air cleaner box for drivers side bulb access.
For the passenger side, need to loosen the fuse box. Open cover, there is a deep nut that you need to get to with an extension. Then fuse box will be able to be pushed to the side so hand can fit to access back of light. You do not need to unplug any electrical connections, as you do not need to remove the fuse box.
On the back of the headlight housing there are two light gray plastic covers, one behind, and one toward the center of the car. The one toward the center of the car needs to come off, I believe there is just one screw holding it on. Once this cover is off, I believe there is a little holder that twists off which has the bulb attached.
The most difficult part is getting the bolt off that is deep down in the fuse box behind the passenger light. I believe I had to use a 8 inch extension with a angled socket attachment to get to it. I used masking tape to tape all the pieces of the socket apparatus I made together so that they would stay together and fall down into the fuse box (socket set isn't the greatest)
Good luck and hope this helps.

How do you gain access to the spark plugs to replace them.Is there a part of the interior dash that needs to be removed to get to the rear plugs on the engine? Thanks.....Joe

Yes, as i have the same van ,but an older year. you have to remove the engine cover...if you look carefully in the middle of your van (where the cup holder are this is a 2 piece cover it has 2 bolts on the bottom and on the side more or less in front of where your knee is there is a plastic panel that needs to be removed, once this is out follow the other cover to the back under the dash, it should have either some rubber straps or bolts remove these and pull the cover back and take it out of the car, when putting in the first cover make sure the weatherstripping is on correctly or you will have noise and water coming into the car.

How do I replace the battery and where is it located?

Procedure:

Remove battery cover located under the hood on the passenger side in the back. Simply pry the plastic catch in the front, open it like a lid and jiggle it loose and set it aside.
Use the small flat screwdriver to pop up the center peg in the five peripheral fasteners holding down the plastic compartment cover that you just removed the battery cover from. Each of these has a small black plastic circular flat topped center peg inside a larger plastic circular disk which has 4 slots under which you can slide the screwdriver to pop up the center peg. When the peg pops up simply slide the screwdriver under the larger disk to remove the assembly and loosen that site of fixation. When all five fasteners are out you can remove the entire compartment cover.
The battery terminals are removed with the 10mm wrench
The black box in front of the battery can be lifted out of the way by pressing on the plastic catch in the front of the box to loosen it from the metal flange that it is attached to.
The metal battery holder is removed with the 10 mm wrench. The nut is removed and the long bolt is slid out of the holder and then unhooked from it's bottom anchor. Jiggle the metal bar over the top of the battery to unhook the back hook from its bottom anchor. It may be necessary to lift the plastic over the back of the battery gently and lift out the soft clear plastic washer fluid tube from its guides to get at the back hook.
Gently lift the battery out while holding the cables out of the way.
Tools required:
10mm wrench, small flat screwdriver
