Hello.. This code indicates a leak in the EVAP system... These codes can be simple or very complex to troubleshoot and fix...

The simplest troubleshooting and fix is to look at the fuel cap gasket... If it is worn or dried out, replace the cap with one from a dealership, not the local parts store... If this fixes it the light will go out after a few start cycles...

If that is not the problem... You have a complex issue that normally requires special test equipment like a smoke machine or compressed air and dye...

Try the simple fix... Hope it works... Good luck...

Honda Accord EX 4 cyl. 1998 has troubleshooting which has the code P1457 . What is this ?

p1457 is an evap code. If you where to bring it to the dealer they would be able to run a complete evap system test and tell exactly what the problem is. I've run this test on over a 100 accords like this and 90% of the time the fault is in the cvs valve. (canister vent shut valve). Its located under the vehicle closer to the rear, on the side of the evap canister. the part runs approx. 100-175 dollars. Good luck hope this helps!

2000 Accord LX, 4 Cyl. check engine light and error codes P1457, P1739

A very common late 90's code, P1457 is a failure in one of the evap system solenoid valves. There are 2 culprits, the Vent Control Valve & the 2 Way Bypass Valve. So, start working with those and see if you can get the 1457 code off of it.

I also looked around about the 1739 code as well which a transaxle error. However, I've found that there has been more than enough reported cases of problems of the such. Take a look at this link, and do a little reading.

I hope this helps you out.
