Well First off all it is a fuel injected vehicle, so there could be plenty of problems.

  1. Your injectors could be leaking.
  2. your FPR could be set to high (fuel pressure regulator, should be around 40 give or take depending on altitude etc.)
  3. Your MAF could be going out (mass air flow sensor)
  4. TPS could be set wrong (throttle position sensor)
  5. ECU could of went bad (engine control unit)
Now this is problem your main problem.

During startup there is a thing called your throttle bypass valve (kinda like an electronic choke) If it is set wrong of faulty it would cause the car to flood while cranking, If the car runs then dies it is likely one of the others.

I would recommend getting a haynes chilton or mitchell manual if you are tech savy and check it out, also consider taking it to a autozone or other and having a obd2 code reader read the car

can't take the slack out of a stretched chained if you already replaced just the tensioner

did you also look at the other timing chain guides?!? they're plastic covered as well & will eventually wear out in time

1998 Nissan 200sx new clutch slips when hot

The cable is probably too tight, andnot allowing the pressure plate to use all of its clamping force. This will also wear out the new release bearing.

My 1996 nissan 200sx won't start

If the starter fluid worked for a little and the engine died again, it may be some of your filters. Check the air and fuel filters and replace them if they are dirty or haven't been replaced in a long while. This is the most common reason a car won't start.

Another idea is the engine may have been flooded. If you have a fuel injected engine, don't pump the fuel when trying to start it. The fuel pump primes the engine all on it's own. If the engine is already flooded, push the fuel pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there while you try to start the engine. This bypasses the priming and opens the air to blast any unburned fuel out of the cylinders.

Check to make sure you are getting spark with an inline spark tester (at auto parts stores) and if not try replacing (in order) the spark plugs, wires and (depending on your engine) the magneto's or distributor cap. Ask the auto parts store if they can look up if you have a distributor-less ignition or if you have a distributor.

So, first the filters (air and any fuel [there may be more than 1]) then check for spark and replace the spark plugs, wires, and magneto/distributor cap.

I hope this helps and good luck! Don't forget to rate! Thank you!
